Tall Cell Papillary

There are a few of us on the board (Nurserobin,
nickyskye, Leemg +myself) who are looking for others with Tall Cell Papillary thyroid cancer. If anyone has advice, knowledge, experience or questions--please share. I begin my Thryogen tomorrow and WBS on Friday. Anxious (scared) to find out my results because of the particular cell being aggressive and sometimes resistant to treatment. Good luck to everyone out there struggling with any disease. I can't tell you how much information and comfort I have received from this message board. Tara

RE: Tall Cell Papillary

Hi Tara, Alot of what I have read on the internet explains the prognosis of tall cell cancer is dependent on age of patient at diagnosis and removal. I wish I knew more. I am going to the endo tomorrow and will find out about the rai treatment for me. The surgeon did tell me that she was unable to get all the cancer out, because of how much was wrapped around my esophogas and trachea. So she is hoping that the rai will kill the rest of it. Anyone know anything about this ?Good Luck to you.

The Date for me is June 27th and the name is RAI - 131. He said they have left a large qty in there after surgery and he needs to give me a higher dosage. He said I can't use thyrogen, because of the amount of cancer left to kill. Today was a rough day, Just changed to Cytomel, not sure it is agreeing with my coumadin, and other meds. How are you doing?

Tara, Did you get sick or have any problems with the RAI or did you feel like just any other day? Oh, and my pathology report indicated papillary, multifocal cancer. Not Tall Cell.

Not Tall Cell. george2 - I did get pretty sick with the 150 RAI. I was very nauseated and out-of-it like it was all a dream. I was alone in an apartment for the weekend and I don't think I will ever do that again. I vomited all night and all day and I couldn't tell if it was afternoon or night or what day it was. It might have been the combination of being hypo, low calcium, the 150 RAI---but I didn't expect to be sick at all. My sister kept contact with me by phone and even got some anti-nausea suppositories from the doctor for me. It's great that you don't have Tall Cell. I'll be thinking of you---let me know how you do. I think everyone is different. I don't know of anyone else who got sick like I do. I don't usually get nauseated easily at all, so it was unexpected for me. I laid in bed and thought of all the little kids that have to deal with chemo and nausea and was glad it was me and not one of them going through it. I always make myself aware that others have it much worse who are young or elderly---and that I CAN do it! Tara
