Coughing blood

My Mom was diagnosed w/ stage IV lung cancer 2 weeks ago. She told me a couple days ago that she is coughing up blood. Is this common or is it a side effect I havent read about with Tarceva? Her Dr doesnt seem real concerned. Please give me feedback. Thanks,Maggie

RE: Coughing blood

Does your mom have a skin rash? My husband does and was spitting up a good amount of blood. Took him to the ER and found he had sores in his nose that may be from Tarceva as his rash was bad. The sores in the nose were bleeding down his throat which made him cough up blood. They told him to use saline nasal spray everyday and if his nose bled to use Afrin nasal spray to stop bleeding. Hope this helps. Have your mom's nose looked at.
