Swollen Tongue

Has anyone else felt like their tongue was swollen/too large for your mouth--sort of along the sides--toward the back? It doesn't have the appearance of being swollen--according to doctors but it sure feels strange....Any ideas?

I new enough here that I don't know what stage you are in treatment. If this is post-RAI, I would say after what I've experienced with swelling anything is possible! If it is not related to RAI, I would wonder...maybe some uncommon side effect from whatever thyroid replacement you're on? Sounds uncomfortable and wish you a quick solution!

They accidently cut the nerve to my tongue during my wisdom teeth removal 20 years ago...tongue issues are weird! I hope you figure it out!

RE: Swollen Tongue

The strange thing is that I have been feeling this since before I even really knew what the problem was. Some days are better than others but I just wondered if anyone else had had this because I was thinking it might be a symptom of hypothyroidism.I started having trouble swallowing and breathing so I went to several doctors over the course of several months...you know how it is getting in to see a specialist....Anyway they decided to take out my right thryoid lobe because I had a sizeable lump there and it was compressing things in my neck. About a week before surgery my left side went crazy and I developed a lump there. They decided to go ahead and take out the whole thing.I had a TT in March 08 and was diagnosed with Papillary Carcinoma with an Oxyphyllic Variant. It ended up that I had several nodules on the right side and I think three on the left side. The largest was 5 cm--or 2 1/2 inches. I was started on synthroid right after surgery and then switched to cytomel in preparation for RAI. I started the LID yesterday and will go in for tracer and WBS on 6/3 and then receive radiation on 6/4. Follow-up scans on 6/6 and 6/11. Thanks for replying....Take care of yourself.
