I have been fighting colon cancer for three years and I will be getting a PET scan next Monday, the 23rd. My last scan in January after 35 days of chemo and radiation showed that the egg sized tumor in my gorin was gone. I just completed 5 months of Folfox , etc through a port, to get rid of remaining lingering camcer cells, if there were any. This my 3rd PET scan and the only problem I had was being still for 35 minutes!!My approach',a few years ago, after going through the waiting period after the most critical test we have, centered around acceptance. I found out that by being willing to accept that any outcome, good or bad, was in the hands of God. Whatever will be will be. I am 71 and I would like to stick around a lot longer!! I have made my peace and have lived a good life and when it is time I am ready to go. I continue to fight hard and remain positive and always have hope that things will turn out OK. Since I made this realization, I have been able to lead a fairly normal life without the constant fear that something negative will happen. It has, and I have been able to live throug it with God my family and my friends by my side. I'll be praying for you as well as many others will. God bless and Good Luck

John, I know that it is hard not to stress out over the upcoming scan, but stressing out over it, isn't going to change what it will be. Read Arnold's post. What ever will be, will be. I still wonder how each scan or visit will bring. I know it is a bit selfish, but try to enjoy life. We know that it only takes one lousy cancer cell to slip by and we may have to go down this road again, hopefully not. As it is mentioned above. I too made peace within and live and enjoy each day as fully as I can. Think positive and keep looking ahead to the future. I keep telling myself that I will be having a 100 yr birthday someday. My Best to everyone here

Hi John,I get a little nervous when my scans come up, too. ( I have my next one a week from today). I was really anxious over my first one post treatment, as it was done right before Christmas, and I wouldnt get to see the Dr. till after the holiday. Like Arnold and Pop-pop, I'll take it as it comes. I have confidence in my docs and my emotional and spiritual support network. I did have a positive on that Christmas scan, 2 spots in my lung. I had to wait until after New Years to have a follow up and find that it was a false positive. Just stay calm and think positive thoughts. I'll cross my fingers and say a prayer for you. We're here for you.Best wishes, Mike
