Effectiveness of Tamoxifen

Has anyone heard of the effectivness of Tamoxifen being diminished because of their gene make-up? I am on Tamoxifen and was told by my oncologist that it may not be effective because I am missing one of two genes related to liver metabolization for Tamoxifen. If anyone has heard of this please post a message. Thank you.

RE: Effectiveness of Tamoxifen

Researchers have performed a study showing an gene that lowers levels of a key enzyme that may indicate whether Tamoxifen will effectively treat women with a common type of breast cancer. It appears if you had the defect then you cant metabolize the drug properly and the side effects were greater. However larger studies are needed to confirm this before women routinely get tested.
