Mum has gone on the 23rd of June 08.

Hi everyone,Im just writing to let everyone know that my mum sadly passed away on the 23rd of June 2008 at 7.08pm. She was battling with lung cancer for 18months, and we all knew as a family that she never had long left. She was on 51years of age, and had 5 siblings, inclduing me and me twin, my older sister and two older brothers. Her fight for cancer was very strong, she was a determined and strong woman, and fought hard. However we never told her that her cancer had spread to different areas of the body, and that the 'tarceva' medicine she was on, stopped working. The reason it stopped was because she was vommiting non stop for 5days straight and all her medicine she was taking including the tarceva was getting ejected out.Im so destraught, but i knew this day was going to come, i have my family and friends who are supporting me through these hard days.I just wish and hope when we give her away for good on Saturday the 28th June 2008, she leaves peacefully and happily. Her disease was deadly, and she had the hardest 18months as she was in a lot of pain, and at times it was hard to handle. I just cannot imagine what she was going through, but now shes not suffering.I dont know if i will be coming back on this forum again, but it has helped me in the last 18months and it has given me strength. I hope everyone stays strong and supports one another.Take care.

I'm sorry! Really sorry to hear the sad news. Hang in there and be strong as I'm sure that's what she would want. I know it's easy to say then done. My mom has lung cancer too and spread to the brain, undergoing radiation. She waiting for approval from her insurance for Tarceva, although I think her oncologist is taking too long to request authorization. I'm really scare and I know you know how it feels. Don't know what to say but be strong and sorry for your lost. CherishAll...

Hi, sad and so sorry to hear that. My dad went for checkup yesterday. He saw 3 different doctors (i.e. Onco. doctor, RT doctor and palliative care doctor) all gave him weeks tolive rather than months now. His right lung is all filled up with tumor and his left lung is also about 10% occupied. That explain why he is so breathless now.Tarceva don't work and I insist on letting him try on another drug i.e. Iressa, hope this can help to reduce his tumor size. The doctor unwillingly prescribed it and he want me toprove him wrong. Thanks.

HI, My condolences to you. My mother passed exactly a year prior to yours from lung cancer also. She also lived 18 months after diagnosis.
May your happy memories of her carry you toward peace.
I hope you can continue the struggle to put lung cancer in the forefront of public opinion. It is shameful that this nation cannot do more to research this dread disease. We have not made enough progress.
OUR thoughts are with you. Sorry for your loss.
