two neck lumps...

Hi, Im 19 years old and have two painless small lumps on the back of my neck, both are in my hairline that have been there for a few months now. One is movable and the smaller one is not as moveable. There is no pain. I am a bodybuilder, and have had neck pain for years. I have a few lipomas already, are these just more or is it something to worry about?Thank you all

With the experience that i have learned from my husband getting squamous cell carcinoma...is that you don't want to wait. You have concerns, go to a doctor. I hate talking to people about his cancer and they ask "was their any symptoms?" Well...on hind sight, yes. We just didn't know it. My husband had a primary in his tonsil and it has metastized to 3 lymphnodes.

Better safe now...than sorry later.

I agree with Winicki....Get it checked out. I started out with a sore throat, and then some swelling in March, by July I was having trouble swallowing and was diagnosed with Stage 4 tonsil cancer. Some of these cancers can be very aggressive, so do it sooner rather than later. Cancer is very beatable if it's caught soon enough.Best wishes and good luck,Mike

Choose your doctor well...if you have any intuition that he is not taking your situation seriously, get another opinion. If you are fortunate enough to be near any big, teaching hospitals they are a good source too. Most stay up-to-date with medicine, unlike non-teaching hospitals and doctors who are sometimes very complacent. Good luck, and let us all know how you do....

I went to the doctors office this afternoon and expressed my concerns and told him what was wrong, He checked my neck for a short while before telling me it was a cyst under my skin which is harmless and fairly common, and if it gets any bigger then i should go back to him to get it removed.I am glad all this worry is over and glad i went to get it checked so soon. thanks for all your advice it was all much appreciated

Get another opinion...in this reply you mentioned "a cyst"...in your original posting you said: "two neck lumps." I think you also mentioned one was not moveable. If the doctor commented on one, why didn't he comment on the other? Another opinion is warranted. If you have any additional symptoms (tiredness, appetite changes, weight loss etc.) be sure to mention these...A surgical or needle biopsy is the only way to be fairly sure they are a benign cyst, and not something else. It is worth your time to see someone else. Good Luck, and let us all know. Thanks.
