neck lumps

Hi i posted this in another part of the forum but then thought it may be more suited to here, Im 19 years old and have two painless small lumps on the back of my neck, both are in my hairline that have been there for a few months now. One is movable and the smaller one is not as moveable. There is no pain. I am a bodybuilder, and have had neck pain for years. I have a few lipomas already, are these just more or is it something to worry about?I have no other symtoms like weight loss or fatigue, and i had a skin infection around the time i found the lumps. One worrying thing is that I have had Glandular fever and I know this raises your chances of getting Lymphoma.Thank you all for your help

When ever a person see's something just not right on there body or feeling sick, just see a doctor right away. Once you see a doctor, maybe you can say a little more and many here will help you to knowing more, or! you might not even have to come back on here hopefully. Let us know after you see a doctor what he tells you , after running certain test and exams, etc.

RE: neck lumps

I attended the doctors last week (monday). he checked my neck and said he could only feel one lump (the small one is really tiny sometimes i can hardly find it) he examined me for maybe a minute before telling me its just a cyst. He seemed confident in his diagnosis and this guy has been the family doctor for over 20 years (grandparents, cousins, parents, siblings) and he has never misdiagnosed any of them before)I am kinda still worried since my glands in my neck have swollen a little since i went to see him (only slightly sore), i think its because i was poking and checking the nodes in my neck for about a week that they have swollen up so i am going to give it another week then if the swelling hs not subsided then i will get a second opinion.

Bodyguy,I'd at least keep a very close eye on it. If you have any other symptoms like fatigue, night sweats, rash, sweating when drinking coffee, pain when drinking alcohol, fever or a few others, you need to get a second opinion. My doctor dismissed my initial diagnosis of Hodkin's, even though I came in with a print out from WebMD that showed I had 6 of the 8 possible Hodkin's symptoms. She told me I didn't have cancer and rushed me out the door with a few prescriptions. She couldn't have been more wrong.I definitely don't want to scare you and actually the scenario you describe sounds fairly innocent. That being said, I'm not an oncologist. Just getting a qualified second opinion could stop any/all worry in an instant.Donald A. My GP tested for gandular fever and it came back negative. I also didn't feel unwell so was not surprised.I was thinking of buying another property at the time so needed to know if anything was really wrong so I was fast-tracked, had a CT scan then a biopsy. Initially it was thought Hodgkins then when I was referred to a cancer hospital for the chemo, they decided it was NHL. I had other lymph nodes affected I couldn't see myself (in my abdomen that the CT scan reealed) which only fully responded once I had high dose chemo with an autologeous bone marrow transplant.I had none of the other classic symptoms of NHL, like night sweats, though I did lose a bit of weight.Just keep an eye on it and don't poke it about! If needs be you can get a needle aspiration and biopsy then you will know for sure.

i went to get a second opinion yesterday. The doctor (who was highly recomended) check my entire neck region and asked all the lymphoma related questions. He also checked my sore throat. he told me the lump is most likely benign but to keep an eye on it anyway plus since i have a history of throat problems (including glandular fever) then my tonsils werte prone to soreness and a little larger than average. All in all i am happy with his diagnosis especially since my little brother has a same size lump in the same place i have mine haha

Sorry to bump an old thread but.....I found another neck lump (behind my ear) so i went back to see a 3rd doctor lol. This guy also told me there was probably nothing to worry about just swollen lymph nodes. He said i have no 'B' symptoms (whatever they are) and have had these lumps since febuary so if i did have cancer i would be showing symptoms not getting substantially bigger and stronger lol. He sent me off for a few blood tests for my worries and im waiting the results. I also noticed that everytime i start a cycle of anabolics i find these lumps, possible link?Im no longer really worried about the lumps but will keep an eye on all of them.
