I had my colp today...

Hi everyone. I have my colp done today..I was so scared I started crying in the office, then again during the procedure. I had a wonderful doctor, and the pain was minimal. I am just so afraid of what happens next.....right now I am tender inside, and I feel like when I cough or sneeze something is going to pop out of me or come loose..weird...What really upset me was that the doc said I probably contracted HPV at some time, although I haven't tested + for it yet....I have to wait 2 weeks to go get results..I had 2 spots she took samples from. She said one was worse than the other...Now I wait...What I am most worried about is having kids, being healthy, and if I need to have more done, which procedure to do? any suggestons or words from experinces would help..good luck to all..

I am sorry that the colp was such a bad experience for you.. I have had to take anti anxiety medication before going in to mine... For the furture.. depending on what the results are your doc may suggest no treatment at this time, just watchful waiting. If this is the case please read the message "Human Pappolmius Virus" (sp?) it goes over a regiemen of vitamins and supplements that have now worked for two of us here to clear up our paps... I was CIN II and 6 months of the vitamins got me a normal pap...If your doc suggests that you need treatment now please ask questions, see your report, understand what is going on with your body. Many docs want to jump right to a LEEP. this may not be best for you and your body but it is cheep and the docs love it.... Once you get your results let us know... there are many women with lots of experience on this site... I am sure many will step up and offer advice. Best wishes to you on this journey.Brandy

I am so sorry you are facing this. It's scary to be facing something like this. But Chemiszt24 is right. Knowledge is power, and the more you know about what you have and what the treatments are, the more actively you'll be involved with what is best for your health and your comfort level. That alone will help reduce the fear factor. Chemiszt24 also just had her first normal PAP smear in two years, after a vitamin/supplement regemin, which personally gives me a lot of hope.I always tell women this, so I'll post it here for you. After the coloposcopy/biopsy be sure to1. Look at the lab report.2. Ask what you have, how how many quadrants it's in, where it's located, how extensive it is, if it's in the endcervical canal, and if it's in the endocervical glands. That will determine what kind of treatment options you have, should you require removal. (With CIN I, a wait-and-see option is chosen, unless it's in the endocervical canal.)3. If you do have CIN II or III, make sure your doctor discuss the risks and benefits all of your treatment options if you feel you need surgery - cryosurgery, laser, LEEP, cold knife - with you, before recommending one. This is a requirement. Something to bear in mind: insurance companies love LEEP because it's the cheapest, so it's often pushed on women as the only choice. In reality, it's just another option with risks and benefits, just like the others. It also has the highest infection rate, even though it produces a live specimen. If you follow the route of traditional medicine, choose carefully. You'll also want to know how much experience that doctor has with a particular recommendation. That alone will reduce the risks of complications, afterward. If your doctor doesn't do all of the above, please get a different doctor immediately. An ethical, caring doctor wants you to make an informed decision. What you have will depend on the treatment you choose.Insorfar as children are concerned, it depends how much of your cervix is removed as to how difficult it will be to carry a child to term if you need treatment. But so long as you tell the OB/GYN when you get pregnant about any treatment you have had, that doctor will monitor your cervix carefully. Worst-case scenario, you'll need your cervix stitched. But your OB/GYN is going to do everything possible to make sure you go home with a live baby.If you need more information, I can post links for you.I hope the results turn out well for you!
