Starting chemo next week

I had a PET on June 24th and it shows a rather large abnormality in lung. There are 2 small anomalies; one in the left armpit and one that is in the neck. Both of these anomalies are too discrete to biopsy. Prior to the PET I had a needle biopsy that proved to be adenocarcinoma in the lower right lobe of lungThe oncologist has suggested an agressive chemo to see if the anomolies will disappear; along with the tumor shrinking. I will be given Carboplatin, Avastin, and Taxol as chemo treatment. After 2 sessions spaced 3 weeks apart, I will have another PET to act as a comparison. If the results are positive, will start radiation therapy after that.Does this sound like a normal course of action?

RE: Starting chemo next week

My husband took the same drugs for 10 months and his reaction was pretty severe, lost 100lbs from vomiting and was just sick. Hopefully, you will fare much better. We did not know what to expect and Dr.'s only tell you so much, which is why I am being honest with you. I am sorry to say that the cancer continued to spread and so the Dr. said no more treatments. Prayfully, your outcome will be much better. We take each day at a time and know we will not get any good reports but he is still trying to do what he can. Let us know how you are doing. Take care.
