He does not sleep during the day (not for lack of trying) or at night (again - not for lack of trying). He said he feels calm and is not perseverating on cancer, health, etc... He said it feels like his body cannot calm down - it is always reved up. The doctor prescribed restoril (temazepam). He tried 15mg last night and it did not touch it. He had been taking Xanax as well, but did not last night as did not want to overdo it. He did go off all morphine - max dose was 30 mg - but that was 7 days before this insommnia. No other med changes.We are interested if anyone is on any other meds that work or anyone who may have experienced similar side effect.  Thanks for any advice. Cathie Hi Cathie,I too have been finding it hard to sleep at night.  On my part it is because of the mucus I am still producing from radiation that seems to start up just as I begin to feel like I might fall asleep. What I have found is that Benadryl has been the only thing that has gotten me a good nights sleep.  I am not sure how comfortable your husband might be taking it, since I am not familar with nasopharyngeal cancer.  Don't know if he has been told to stay away from antihisimines or not. But did want to write and say that it worked for me. Hope this helps...I know how terrible it is to not be able to sleep.  D.  D1211 Fri, 04 Jul 2008 00:00:00 GMT I took ambien each day  for several months and it helped tremedously, with an xanax for anxiety.
