It is the most complex surgery out there, and is a ton to deal with even with the best surgeons available. Perhaps family MD is a good choice.  They may have a better overview and be able to direct you towards appropriate resources. Maybe you could try American Cancer Society for ideas. The local group here was very well aware of EC and the pitfalls, and although I have not used them for support, they certainly offer to provide it. They may know what is available for resources in your area. Another alternative could be another opinion elsewhere (maybe Moffitt since you're in FL-a big state I know-but several people have mentioned being happy with care there). This whole process is very frustrating and we are all very prone to burnout as caregivers. Very often the left hand does not seem to know what the right hand is going-particularly when we dealt with feeding tube issues, etc. The local VNA seemed to drop the ball every time we needed them/feeding issues and were virtually useless, so I know the feeling. tongrenhealer Wed, 09 Jul 2008 00:00:00 GMT  SassyB, I too recently had surgery. Here is a website I found that may help. I had read someone elses post about lactose intolerance after surgery. That helped me alot. I was drinking Ensure between meals and it really put me in a tailspin.
