`Medicare not covering chemo

My Dr put me on Taxotere for RCC . I have a subtype that responds to chemo. Now after 3 rounds of treatment he tells me that my Medicare and secondary insurance has refused to pay for it. I feel that it is his job to make sure that insurance will cover the treatment before you give it. I will have the scans this week to see if the chemo works but I dont feel I should pay for the chemo when I have insurance and he has 3 people who just handle billing. Has anyone else had this problem.

The best possiblity of finding someone with the same problem is to join the free email support list for kidney cancer patients (see http://cancerguide.org/kofaq/ ). Let them know the subtype of renal cancer that you had, and I think you will find someone you may have fought the same battle.Be sure that you are being treated by a doctor who has experience in treating rare subtypes of kidney cancer.

I went back to my Dr for my test results and the Taxotere is keeping everything stabilized with no new mets or growth, I know Taxotere is not a drug usually used for RCC but it makes me furious that Medicare will thousands for Sutent which did not work and was horrible but is giving me a hard time on a drug that cost thousands less and is helping with no side effect.s
