nights sweats

Has anyone had any experience with night sweats? My Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in Sept. 2005. He was able to have the Whipple procedure here in Cincinnati. After recovery and regaining strength we took him to MD Anderson in Houston. He was in a very heavy duty trial. Came home. Six to eight months of Chemo (Gemzar) , cancer free until Jan.2008. Cancer spread to his liver. Six more months of Tarceva then Xeloda liver tumor grew and spread to his lungs. He is having pain all day long and can not sleep without pain meds. Now he is having nights sweats. Can anyone tell me what this could mean? My Dad in only 68 years old and I'am scared to death. Thanks in advance for any help.
