Awaiting further tests in limbo

I've had ongoing stomach problems for 3 to 4 years. Low functioning gall bladder, hernia and acid reflux. A recent bout with bad pain and elevated white blood cell count sent me to get first MRI. MRI revealed unknown mass on outside stomach wall between stomach and spleen. Doctors are not sure exactly where the mass is, but say it is not yet a full-blown mass. The dr. said it was about 3 in. x 3 in. My liver, pancreas, spleen and other organs look great. My blood work-up is great. I'm scheduled for endoscopy later this week, but GI dr. said he didn't expect to find anything inside my stomach. I'm worried. I don't know what plan B is. Is this common? I'm female in my 40's. I'm not sure why they don't go ahead and do another surgical procedure the same day if they don't find anything in the stomach. Will they do exploratory surgery? If it's benign will they just leave it alone?

I have a feeling the doctors obviously have to tread carefully when dealing with masses sandwiched between organs. They would not plunge in and operate without a great deal of investigation and thought. And there is probably nothing that can be done until you know whether it is benign or malignant. However, things seem to be looking good for you as far as your blood and other organs are concerned. The "waiting for results" and "not knowing" is so incredibly frustrating and I know exactly how you feel. Try to make an appointment with your local doctor or your specialist and voice your concerns. They may even speed things up so that you get quicker results. It has worked for me in the past and is always worth a try. Do you have CT scanners where you live locally? they are the most amazing machines for showing up faults in our bodies and are used widely in the UK.Good luck and I shall be hoping that your results are benign.
