TCC

Hi,I haven't posted very often, but have found this website to be very helpful in many ways. My news this time is sad.......we lost of beloved 16 1/2 yr. old miniature dachshund Jesse on 7/19. Via an ultrasound we found that he had TCC on 12/26/07. He was on Meloxicam (vs Piroxicam which is harder on their tummies sometimes). After 7 mos. the tumor had hardly grown at all and we were very optimistic. However he started have problems urinating last week and it was determined there was no infection, the tumor had not grown, however, the shedding of the transitional cells seemed to be causing his problem. The vet cathederized him to try to break the cells up and give him some relief and we in turn expressed his bladder manually for 2 days. Unfortunately we had to let him go on Sat. I wish that I could turn back time and have my sweet boy back. Along with the TCC, he had been blind for about the past 9 mos. and was hard of hearing, but he was a trooper right until the very end. I send my love to all of you and your pets that are going through this same horrible ordeal. Hugs, Deb

I send my deepest sympathy to you, Deb, on the loss of your Jesse. It sounds like he had a long life filled with lots of love and special care. I just found this board when looking for ways to help my Westie, Willie, who has just been diagnosed with TCC. Hearing the stories of other's treatments has helped me find the direction that I should take to help Willie live as long and happy a life as possible. Thank you for sharing Jesse's story. {{Deb}} Sue

Hi Deb! Sorry for your loss. We put our Samantha down on Saturday as well. She was almost 14. Didn't know someone else was going through the same pain as we that day. I know my Samantha has earned her angel wings. She certainly was a trooper as well. They sounded a lot a like in that. Again, I'm so sorry. I know your pain.
