Newly Diagnosed Nephew-where to Start?

My nephew has just been diagnosed this past week. It seems it is in his left legg, pelvis, and a spot on his back. Not sure about his lungs yet, they just did more testing today. He is only 18 and was in a terrible accident last year leaving him paralyzed. He was in a rehab center when this was found. Where do you begin?
For 2nd opinion and alternative methods? Best Hospitals? Please help! We are in MO and I read a horror story on your site about St Louis.
Any info would be appreciated. I have surely had my eyes opened reading all your messages. My prayers go out to each of you. May you find strength in our Savior and ever comforting peace and much healing. Sincerely, BABS

Newly Diagnosed Nephew-where to Start?

You need to find out exactly what type of cancer he has--have him ask for a copy of his pathology report. The best place to go for treatment depends on the type of cancer. There are excellent doctors and hospitals in St. Louis, but you need to know the type of cancer to know the best place to go.

Where to Go?

I have stage 3 breast cancer with all nodes involved. If I could go anywhere, I would go to Cancer Treatment of America. Unfortunately my insurance does not contract with them so I could not go to them. It was very discouraging to me to be dictated by insurance where I can go and where I can not go but such is life and God is the one who has the final say in my life so I will trust him. If you can go there....they treat the whole body. Body Soul and spirit. That is the best you can get.

Good Luck and God Bless.

Where to Go?

The best place to go depends greatly on the type of cancer, especially if it is a rare type that many oncologists may not have experience treating. Breast cancer is one of the more common cancers, and good treatment is available at many places.
