Bile Duct Cancer Specialists

I am new here. My dad just found out he has bile duct cancer. It is located at the top near the fork. Not sure of the stage yet. He found out after having an ERCP. The problem is that the ERCP also made him develop a severe case of pancreatitis, which is still keeping him in the hospital. They are suggesting that once he is "healthy", he seek treatment by a specialist since he is at a community hospital. He is located in FL. The doctor has suggested Moffitt in Tampa. I live in Philadelphia, PA, my brother lives in Chicago, and my sister lives in Columbus, OH. Does anyone know the best specialists in any of these places? Thanks! ~Deb

This is the e-mail address to a researcher @ Virginia Commonwealth University. He is personable and knowledgeable in the area of cholangiocarcinoma. He would be able to give you sound advice.

Doctors

Deb,

Read through the posts in this section and in the gallbladder cancer section. Many doctors are mentioned. Sloan-Kettering in New York and the James Cancer center at Ohio State are two more. MD Anderson has an excellent reputation. Get several opinions and find a doctor who specializes in this cancer.

Thanks

Thanks for all the recommendations. I will be following up on them (and some others too). Does anyone have any personal experience with Dr. Mark Talamonti from Northwestern in Chicago? ~Deb
