<title>Trying to decide what to do</title>
<description>Hi, I was told I had prostate cancer in March. In doing CT scans they found me with cancer in the right kidney, and told me it had to be removed first. It's been 2 weeks since they removed the kidney and no cancer had gotten outside the tumor itself.

Now I am back looking for ways to treat the prostate. I have really almost decided to go a different route than removal. I will be 60 in June, the Gleason was 5 in 1 of 12 cores only. My PSA was 6.8.

Because of the recent kidney removal I am somewhat concerned about cost involved with possibly having brachytherapy, but we do have insurance.

      <title>Brachytherapy</title>
      <description>James,

I have been researching treatments for eighteen months. I had to settle for EBRT with IMRT, because of a huge prostate.

If I could have I would have gone for the Brachytherapy, or the Brachytherapy and EBR. This seems to have fewer side affects and is cheaper than surgery. I know a lot of men who have had this treatment, they are doing great. A few days of burning wnen urinating is about all the problems they had, and a feeling of sitting on a golf ball for a couple of days. Meds to keep flow going. The cure rate is the same as surgery, and you won't need diapers!

Best of luck!
