I am recently diagnosed and am hopefull to go into remission .. can that occur... my dad died of atheriosclerosis.. my platelets were over a million ..and now about 675. please let me know if one can survive long time periods without the drug.thanks Hermosagal Tue, 20 Sep 2005 00:00:00 GMT Hi I am wondering how you are doing? Did you stop taking Hydrea? I am just starting on this journey and my doctor told me that once we got my platelets down to 600, we could try to see if I can take it just once a week or so. He said that sometimes the bone marrow stops overproducing. I don't know if there are any problems with stopping Hydrea.
