Fighting Ovarian Cancer (scotland)

I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer 15 months ago, told I was stage 3C and it was unlikely I'd survive more than four months.I have had chemotherapy spread over eight months. First Carboplatin with Taxol then Carboplatin on its own. It didn't work. I then went on a course of the drug Letrozole which also has been unsuccessful.I am now stage 4 and my CA125 is 2200. My oncologist now has told me just to go home and enjoy life!
I have decided to try the Breuss Cancer Cure but have encountered no end of problems in obtaining some of the ingredients required to make the supplementary teas.Has anyone else tried this cure as detailed in the book by Rudolph Breuss, what was the outcome and where did they obtain the ingredients?
On an encouraging note, while getting chemotherapy I insisted on wearing the 'Ice Cap' and as a result suffered no hair loss.

Eileen, I am also dealing with ovarian cancer, actually, fallopian tube cancer. I wish I had some answers for you, unfortunately, I don't. Have you thought about seeing a naturopath doctor? What is an "ice cap".

Keeping Your Hair While on Chemo

Philly, the ice cap resembles a jockey's cap and is put in a freezer.About ten minutes before getting chemo the nurse would place it on my head. It has to fit really tightly and she'd put some cotton wool just under it where it touched my forehead to prevent 'freezer burn'. While getting the chemo it is replaced every 40 minutes as it deforsts. It is naturally cold, but not at all uncomfortable to wear, in fact I used to doze off and only woke each time the cap was being changed.I don't know where you are, but here in Scotland not every hospital will provide the cap. I was lucky that the Western General in Edinburgh did.I would encourage anyone to enquire about it as it certainly helped me.Best of luck with your treatment.

Eileen, I am in the United States. Never heard of an "ice cap".

You mentioned Breuss Cancer Cure and I came across the information below. I don't know what you are looking for, but someone couldn't find all the ingredients for a tea and mentions a web site--thought you might be interesed. Good luck.

"I fould the (ingredients) difficult to find, however I did find a source in Australia for a product called Breuss Kidney Tea."

Vaccine

Mayo clinic has a clinical trial using the measles vaccine, which has no side effects & works very well. It is injected into the peritoneal cavity & the measles virus destroys the all of the cancer cells that it can reach, before the antibodies get to the virus.
virotherapy has been around for awhile, but the FDA has never let it out of clinical trials, because the profit margin is too low. Hungary has been using the newcastles vaccine for years, which is a chicken vaccine, & it has worked well. They use it in a nasal spray.
Check it out.

Claudia, I am impressed that you are doing so well. Really happy for you. I was Stage 3-C and have had 2 relapses. What is Gaviola and Mangosteen Juice and what are they suppose to do for you? What vitamins and minerals are you taking? I thought flaxseed oil should be avoided because of the estrogen-like effect.

Ovarian 4

Philly: Graviola is herb can get information from Regallabs, takenwith Rasberry Extract. , magosteen is a juice patented under the name XANGO, you can learn more by going to mangosteenexperiences.com. In addition to these I have been taking a number of other vitimins, selenium, c e a & d, b 6 b compelex, flaxseed oil with cottage cheese( protein). Obviously quit smoking,, eat no meat except chicken ( organic) fish salmon at least twice a week) veggies ( crusafix veggies) fruit. NO sugar( cancer feeds on it), green tea no sodas, I have read a ton of books several I would recommend for reading: Cancer Battle Plan, How to fight cancer and Win, Beating Cancer with nutrtion, all have a similar theme and there are several others which I think are immensley helpful in building or rebuilding the immune system. Which I Believe is a God given gift and somehow it has been compromised It is up to us to restore it as best we can by providing it the tools to do the job it was intended to do to fight the cancer cells. Obviiously prayer is a powerful help always available to us. I of course do not know what is right for you, but I have tried to stay stress free, as much as possible , which necessitated in my giving up my real estate practdice of 30 years, The hours ( 90 a week) and stress were not supportive of my surviving, So I would commend to you to review all that you are doing and see what postive changes you can make or things you can do to help yourlself. Be blessed, and healed, claudia

Getting Through it All.....

Hi Claudia, My name is Jan and I am an ovarian cancer survivor stage 4 for over nine years now. No recurrence to date. You seem to have the right attitude my friend about it all. Who know about this stuff? Right? You ladies here must keep the faith and hang in there. I wish you all healthy tomorrows. Hugs and be well, Jan

my Mother Has Stage 3

Hi Jan! I just wanted you to know that reading your message gives me hope. My mother is stage 3 and struggling. She gets easily depressed and the family is afraid she's 'thrown in the towel'. She is having a great deal of abdominal discomfort, bloating and gas and this interferes with eating. Her stomach rumbles all the time. Did you have any problems with this? Is this a side effect of the chemo? She's only had one treatment so far. Anyway, I'm a strong believer in nutrition playing a part of the healing process--any recommendations? Thanks, Jan!

Ovarian ca

Hi Do NOT give up, the immune system is a blessing and up to us to help inhance it, chemo is to stop it long enough so we can get our systems back up and running, Depression is understandable, but faith will over come. As to nutrition, cancer is a wasting disease- so first is to maintain weight which means to eat foods which are healthy, I did smoothies of fresh fruit ( blue berries, strawberries, bananas apples , pine apple , apples add protein mix) every day- even if she sips on it. Fresh salads, no meat, sodas, sugar ( absolutely none!) salmon, chicken organic only. She can take vitimins like b complex , 12, 6, , vit. c ( I took 10 mg a day for awhile) if she walks the gas will disapate some the pressure will be relieved.) She needs to get her PH balance to alkaline there is a compound found in health food store called buffer ph it will help elevate her ph level. Graviola and Rasberry again found in health food store. Several books recommended, Beating cancer with Nurtrition, How to Fight Cancer and Win, The Cancer Battle Plan, Finally, get her to eat cottage cheese with cold pressed flaxseed oil ( add fruit to flavor) I am a stage 4 surviovor of 2 years 2 months, and have gained 60 labs since my diagnois, Other then effects of chemo am doing well, Have faith! we are all here to help each other survive! sucessfully! Care givers who read this take care of yourself too, Clauda

Eileen, did you read the artical on Ginkgobiloba? on the compass news? I would definitley add that to the vitimin. supplement regim I already take about 60 various supplements daily all geared toward rebuilding my immune system, and antioxidant support. Try it I don;t see any of us have a down side to nutritional support at stage 3 or 4 Hugs Claudia

Mother's Struggling.....

Hi Lisa W. I don't remember the tummy problems much at the time. Although when I had the chemo which was mostly taxol at that time my tummy was very upset for a couple of days after. And then......watch out! I was hungry. I woul crave good mexican food and ate it too. Not the best thing but I did well in between treatments. Of couse I ate the good mild stuff as well. I too believe nutrition plays a big part in keeping well and I follow that pretty well. Does your Mom drink green tea? How about pomegrante juice? Get her some and drink that green tea. Let me know how she does and I will think good thoughts for her. Be well and e-mail me at --- Message edited by CancerCompass staff: for personal protection, email address removed. I was very depressed and should have asked the doctor for something to help me get through but I didn't. It is a very emotional time and a real roller coaster ride.

Hey Jan, thanks so much for responding. I can't express to you in words how much it means to me to know there are people like you out there helping others. My mother is only 55 years old, we just lost our step-father to metastatic brain cancer--he was my father for 17 years--this is all so surreal, like in a dream. I can't believe that cancer is happening to our family and I want to help my mother get well so she can enjoy her grandchildren. I will probably write you back in the near future and I hope you don't mind if I encourage my mother to write you as well. Take care and God bless! Lisa

Hi, In reply to your question about not having any recurrence to date in this over nine years and being a stage 4. I have no good answer. I wish I did. Who knows? I am very lucky and thankful of course. I have asked my doctors and they just shake their head. What can I say. I try to eat health pretty much and take some supplements but nothing special really. I always kid about eating good mexican food in between my chemo treatments back then , that is after I got over being so sick to my stomach. I just craved it. ???????? Maybe the hot stuff scared the hell outa the cancer huh? Ha! I don't think doctors or anyone have all the answers to this stuff. Be well and take care of you, Jan

Jan, thanks for replying so quickly. I guess I am looking for some help to avoid another recurrence--if that is possible. Did you have a stem cell transplant after the chemo treatments? I just started seeing a naturopathic doctor. She is helping my body recover from my last treatment in August. Wishing you continued health.

RE: Ovarian Stage 4

I hope this information is helpful. The website for the full article is at the end of this message.

Flaxseed is the richest source of lignan. Although a dense source of alpha linolenic acid, flax oil contains very low amounts of lignan precursors because they are lost in pressing the flaxseeds to make the oil. Lignans help protect against cancer because they are antioxidants. These are substances that defend against cancer-causing free radical molecules. Lignan are converted by natural flora (bacteria that resides in the colon) to estrogenlike byproducts which are absorbed into the blood. These plant-derived phytoestrogens compete with the bodies own estrogen for binding sites in the breast, ovaries, and uterus. Many breast and female reproductive cancers are caused by the bodies own estrogen. Chronic exposure to a woman's own estrogen can incease her risk of cancer. However, when her estrogen has to complete with phytoestrogens from lignans, her own estrogen often can't find a binding place. This seems to decrease the likelihood of tumor formation. Experiments on rats have shown that flaxseed lignans have not only prevented breast tumors from growing, but also decrease the size of any existing tumors by 50% over a seven week period.
