Apparently all other reoccurent tumers were superfictual. All I can say is to stay on top of it and keep close contact with your Dr. I have only had chemotherapy twice in all that time.normally I go in for a cysto ,every six months and in most proceedures a speck of tumer is removed. My Doctor has even given me photos inside my bladder before he burns them out. Up to now Ihave not worried about my bladder cancer ,but now i am conserned it may have spread to my bones. i am waiting now for results of complete body bone xrays and will ha another cysto 11-01-05 to check this out. anyone needing to relate with my experience,feel free to contact me. I am responding to your message in the interest of my husband, who was diagnosed with bladder cancer 1 year ago. Had many cysto's since them, with removal of tumors twice. have you had side effects from the many cysto's (ie. urine leakage or urgency to urinate) My husband has never smoked, but both of his parents did-heavily-when he was a child. I just had another cystoscpe today and it was the very first time out of the 60 or some cystoscpes I have had. as far as my bone x-rays,nothing was found and i was quite relieved......yes ,I have been smoking for 40 years. Quit several times. it seems I always went back when a close loved one died. This point in life,I feel that I've been very fortunate. I did ask my urologist, after all these years if any of the growths were other than superfical and he told me they all were superficial. so......in that respect I guess that is why I do what the dr tells me and why I am still here 26 years later. Rich s Tue, 01 Nov 2005 00:00:00 GMT Colleen, Hi, since you posted your last message I hope that things have turned out well for you. I am writing because my grandpa has bladdar cancer. Four years ago he was diagnosed and went through radiation and chemo. The radiation ended up burning a whole in his colon and he had to have an emergency surgery...now he lives with a colostomy bag. He recently went back in for a short procedure because the doctor saw something of concern. After four years of being cancer free, it has returned. The doctor burned off the infected areas and now they want him to have this chemo that they inject into his bladdar and he has to urinate out. Is this what you had? My grandpa is 85 and after reading some of the side effects he doesn't know if he can do it. Can you offer any words of advice? If you had this type of chemo what was your experience and how old were you when you went through it? Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless you.
