I also have clear cell. I had hysterectomy in September 2005. At first they told me I had grade 1 to 2 adenocarcinoma. Then the pathologist did further studies and said it was clear cell. I had lymph node dissection done with the hysterectomy (all nodes negative), but had peritoneal washings done which did show cancer cells. I am getting chemo currently. I have completed 3 of 6 doses of carboplatin/Taxol. It's rough. I will be glad when it is completed. They plan to do radiation therapy after I complete the chemo.

I was told that my clear cell cancer probably started from endometriosis in the fallopian tube, then spread to the uterus, and a small amount to the left ovary. Funny thing was, I never knew that I had endometriosis, had none of the typical symptoms.

You certainly have my sympathies in the loss of your wife.

I hope my information is useful to you in some way.

Best regards,

Clear Cell

I was saddened to read about your wife. I was diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer (clear cell) early last June. I had a historectomy but the doctor's were not able to completely debulk my tumors because I had a small piece on the bowel. They were hoping the chemo would take care of the rest. I just had my second surgery last week at Sloan Kettering. The doctors felt it went very well and they were able to get everything. They put a port into my abdominal area for my next rounds of chemo. I am a little nervous about that procedure. I will need to have the chemo done at Sloan because my hospital is not experienced about administering it that way. I am staying positive and hoping for the best.
