Malignant Fiberous Histiocytosis in The Thoracic Cavity

My father was recently diagnosed with malignant fiberous histiocytosis (MFH) of the lung pleura region - pericardium region of his thoracic cavity. The phrenic nerve is encapsulated so surgeical removal of the tumor is not an option. I am having a hard time finding information regarding this cancer type in the thoracic cavity. Does anyone know if this is truely a rare occurance? Chemotherapy recommendations? Radiation effectiveness? Cure/re-mission possibilities?

It seems to me to be plausable that the tumor in the chest is not a primary cancer site if it is indeed that rare. Could this be a secondary site with the primry cancer located elsewhere?

This cancer has also spread to the brain with three lesions identified. Prescribed treatment is a single radiation dose applied via steriotactic radiosurgery. Any comments on the effectiveness of this procedure?
