Tarceva

I was wondering if there was anyone out there that was a smoker over 30 years ago and has had a positive reponse with tarceva. From what I have read it seems that non-smokers or patients with a mutant EGFR have positive results. My father was a smoker but stopped 35 years ago. We do not know if he has mutant EGFR but we do know that he is expressing EGFR. He is considering starting tarceva.

Thanks for any help you can share...these are such difficult decisions!!

Tarceva

I am a former smoker from college. I smoked 5 or 6 yrs ago, grew up around 2nd hand smoke as a child, if you want to know that. I'm on tarceva and it seems to be working. I am 30 yrs old and have been on Tarceva since April. My stage 3 cancer is stabilized. I had one lymph removed and it was WAY dead so that's a good sign. I do have naseau, the runs and the wrost imaginable acne a person could have. More acne than when I was in puberty. But I think acne and the runs, sure does beat the alternative. Good luck and God bless you and see you through this journey.
