How do You Support Someone Giving up Hope?

My mom who is 62 was dianosed with Cholangio Carcinoma in March 05. Had 1/3 of her liver removed. Had not spread at that point. Started Xeloda and radiation after that. They thought that they got all of it. Finished with Xeoloda in Dec 05. Had another scan done and now shows they didn't get a small margin and has now spread into her liver in 2 spots. She is starting Xeloda again Jan 21 06. 1 week on 1 week off forever. The doctor says he has a women who has been doing this for 3 years and is treating her as if she were his mother. Why aren't they trying some combinations (Gemzar, Oxaliplatin or Leucovorin) I am doing research thanks to the advise of all of you.

She doesn't seem open to much (liver transplant or radiation through tube to spots)

I gave her videos from Lorraine Day, MD. about a raw diet that cured her breast cancer with months to live without chemo. I am not suggesting that she go off chemo but I believe a good diet is essential.

I am desperately trying to help her but she is basically throwing in the towel. She doesn't want to know anything more about her cancer.

I don't know what to do anymore!

Desperate
