Cervical Cancer

What is LEEP? I have Stage IIIb and a rare form of cervical cancer - not related to the HPV virus. I went thru 6 weeks of Cisplatin and 6 weeks of radiation at the same time and had internal radiation inplant. I had a Pet-CT Scan 3 months later and had a couple gray areas, then I had another Scan which showed new cancer in my lymph nodes. I went thru 3 treatments to Taxol and Carboplatin. I have another scan this coming Monday and I am scared. I had cancer for 2 years before I finally demanded additional testing from my GYN, then it showed up. There seems to big problem with GYN's not diagosis cervical cancer. My Oncologist said that they feel good if they catch 50% of cervical cancer. I am a fighter and believe in God and pray a lot, this seems to help.

There is an email support list specific to gyn cancers. See http://www.eyesontheprize.org/list/index.html . You may be able to connect even with women with rare forms of cancer there.

Cancer Research

I am concerned that I will get cancer one day, everyone in my family has had cancer, I am going to be 60 in Oct. and I get check ups-GYN & Mammograms, but with my last GYN exam the doctor told me there were more white cells than before in my cervix! I asked her what that meant and she said, not to worry, it happens. Does that mean cancer cells are growing? What are squamous cells? She didn't seem too concerned but I am uneasy about it. My mother had breast cancer- also my sister- and my aunt. My father died of colon cancer. D.Rushing
