Rfa for non small cell cancer

I don't have any information on RFA for non small cell cancer, but I had the procedure preformed on my kidney tumor in June 2002 and it was amazing. My doctor told me they were trying to see if it would work on lung and breast cancer, but I have not heard anything about it recently. If I find anything out I will put in on this message board.
Rfa

Dear Robbie:
I had RFA to treat my non-small cell lung cancer on 7/21/06. It was in the lower right lobe and was 2 cm. Since I have COPD, the surgeon didn't recommend surgery and I opted not to have chemo or radiation. The surgeon suggested I talk to a radiologist at Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Arizona who had done the biopsy. He had done some RFA's in the past and since he was able to biopsy my 2 cm. lesion, the surgeon felt he would be able to perform the RFA. My lesion was resting against a rib, which made it difficult to reach. He had to go through my back at an angle, but it was 100% successful. I had a PET scan last month and there was no sign of any remaining cancer cells. I would highly recommend this procedure if the cancer is 3 cm or less. Good luck........

Rfa

Hi,

I read your message about your non small cell lung cancer procedure. That is totally awesome that you are 100% cured. My husband had COPD (emphysema)for 10 years and in June 2004 was diagnoised with the same lung cancer. I never thought about calling my kidney cancer doctor who did my RFA in June 2002. I wish I had. He went through 5 weeks of radiation and 3 treatments of chemo before he had to stop because he was getting very weak and had to received 4 units of blood. Robert passed away on 9-16-05. The death certificate said it was COPD. PTL that you are still here.

My husband has tumors in both lungs and the thoracic surgeon wanted to treat them, but the oncologist is saying there's no point. Be grateful for you opinion. all the best Gillian
