The University of Alabama removed 1/3 of her liver-margins clear and had not metastisized. They then started radiation and Xeloda along with B6 for skin peeling. The treatment was supposed to be preventative. They had done no other tests until Nov 05. She was stopped Xeloda in Dec 05. Scans came back that she now has 3 new spots in liver! They again just wanted to put her on Xeloda and see what happens. That was not good enough for me or her. I took my mom to the Cancer Treament Centers of America in mid Jan 06. All they could say about her previous treatment is "OH MY!" They immediately ran a bunch of tests and the tumors had doubled in size since Nov 05. Her treatment there is as follows: Every 28 days she will return to the center for 5 days of treatment. Treated by IV Zosran (5 days for 4 hrs) - prevents nausea Leucovorin (5 days for 4 hrs) - Enhances 5FU She will drink Allopurinol so chemo doesn't absorb into mouth causing mouth sores. Interarterial through cathater in arterty through groin. Cisplatin (1 day for 5 hrs) Mitomycin-C ( 1 day for 5 hrs) Naturopathy Milk Thistle - Sensitives displatin and supports liver Melatonin - Reduces weight loss and stimulates white blood cells B6 - Helps nerves and prevents skin peeling EPA Max - Omega 3 for cell signaling Green Tea Extract - Tumor cell death associated with blood vessel formation Ginger Max - Anti-nausea and anti-inflamitory. My mom is now experiencing bad mouth sores and very swollen lip's. I will keep everyone posted. Susanf Tue, 07 Feb 2006 00:00:00 GMT Dear Susan, I suggest you look for some clinical trials to get your Mother on. I suggest a phase III using XL119 versus 5FU/Leukovran. The XL119 really helped my wife, the 5FU did nothing. What your mother is getting did not help my wife. See my posts in the gallbladder cancer section under "My Search". I know someone who has gone two years on GemZar and Xeloda. I also found a survivor of this cancer on cancer-info dot com. SHe was on Gemzar and Taxotere. You need to get aggressive.
