At about 18 months, my PSA began to climb - slowly at first - but now is 6.25. My doctor is telling me that there is only one way to correct the situation at this point, and that involves what he calls "Salvage Surgery". He has further informed me that there is a very strong possibility that I will wind up with a colostomy bag and total incontinence of the bladder. Is there no other option? Robert S. Robert S. Tue, 01 Jun 2004 00:00:00 GMT Robert, I had a similar problem only I had the seed implant first then followed by seven weeks of conformal beam radiation. My first psa test was .04, then gradually started back up. At 24 months it was 7.0 and at 30 months was 14.0. My doctors all concurred that I should take Zoladex hormone shots. This seems to be helping as at 42 months it was down to 7.0 again. I will have another test in August so will see how it is then. Do not let them do salvage surgery as that is the very last option you want to consider. I had the implant and radiation and I'm still having some problems Gene B. Gene B. Tue, 01 Jun 2004 00:00:00 GMT I had seeding done 18 mos. ago my PSA levels have gone up since then my last test was 6/1 waiting for results my doctor is talking about cryosurgery which involves freezing the prostate, he has had success with this treatment.
