Cisplatin & vp 16

My mom was dx with nsclc IIIB march 06 after 3 months of tests.
her local dr. started her on low dose carbo & taxol with daily radiation also.
we went for a 2nd opinion at sloan kettering in nyc. the dr recommended cisplatin & vp 16 plus the radiation. 2+ year survival is at 29% I was told. i dont see anyone else talking about this regimen.....

Vp-16/cisplatin & Radiation

My SIL had the VP-16/Cisplatin with radiation last January and was only able to handle 1 round. I think she ended up in the hospital 3 times during treatment. She stopped the chemo and finished radiation. She chose not to treat it with any chemo during the last 15months due to her experience with original treatment. We are now looking to find a regiman that is less toxic for her.

Cisplatin & vp 16

my mom has been in the hosp. for 8 days now. extreme throat pain, shortness of breath from mucous in the airway, low wbc counts (0.6), etc. she was not able to eat or drink. she is better now, they have her on antibiotics, mucinex, prednisone, etc. seems to help, she can speak again! let me know what you find. this is a very tough regiment....keep in touch. heather
