Symptoms

Hi,

I am hoping that someone could tell me if I should be worried that I may have ovarian cancer. Cancer runs on both sides of my family. For a very long time now, I have had a constant swelling (rounded like a baseball and noticeable) in my lower right area under my belly button. I get what seems like twinges there and I can feel it in the top of my right leg. I noticed it when I starting getting very bad cramps in that area during my period. They lasted for a couple of hours. Even when I lose weight, the swelling is still there. I have been going to bathroom alot more within the last two months and it is often "cloudy". I went to my ob/gyn and he did a very routine and non-extensive pelvic exam (no pap smear or any kind of tests) and sent me to my general dr. My general dr. has now sent me to a GI dr. After speaking with people, I decided also to go to another ob/gyn. Should I be concerned?

Hi Kim0102,

I too had this type of pain and also had spotting. My OB/GYN also gave me a referal to a GI doctor as well. Please go as fast as you can to another OB/GYN who will take your concerns to heart and give you a CA-125 blood test and give a pap smear test and look further into your problem. Listen to your inner voice and if your not happy with doctor number 2, then ask around for good referals for doctors and find one your comfortable with. I found a good doctor from my co-workers, who knew to ask all the right questions!! Good luck and God Bless!
