I checked out "The Essiac Report" unknown cancer remedy from our library. It gives a tea made from 4 herbs: Sheep Sorrell, Burdock Root, Slippery Elm Bark and Rhubarb Root that are supposed to cure/shrink tumors, and a lot of other things, and no known side effects. Began as a remedy from an Indian and progressed to Flor-Essence that you mix with hot water and drink as a tea. A detoxifier also.

Heard of it but do you know of anyone using with real benefit. I get a lot of these things pushed at me but you have to do a lot research before you try them.

I didn't find anything to prove this was beneficial, hoping someone out there might have. Even what I read about it, there was some doubt. Of course, when you have cancer, any thing might be worth a try. Right now, my husband is taking Coral Calcium - another supposed remedy to shrink tumors. ????

Thanks for replying.

What about Enzymatic Therapy's Cell Forte (IP6 & Inositol). Is he doing anything nutrition wise? Change in his diet or anything? I purchased the books "Eat to Beat Cancer" by J.Robert Hatherill, Ph.d, "Nutrition:The Cancer Answer II" by Maureen Kennedy Salaman and "Challenge Cancer and Win" by Kim Dalzell, Ph.D.,R.D.,L.D. and out of them all I think I understand and can follow Challenge Cancer better then the others not to mention it gives specific supplements based on cancer type. I just started the diet and supplements this week. I determined to beat this. I have NHL.

Karyl, Good for you! You have a good attitude. I did buy the Cancer Answer II, and my husband's niece sent a book and tapes on "Getting Well Again" by O. Carl Simonton, MD. The first tape gives a lot of relaxation techniques, but I am sure the second one is more specific on mind-body healing. My husband started reading it, but quit, and has not listened to the tapes. He's a skeptic and I have almost given up. It's his life, but I wish it were more valuable to him to at least give it a try. He has a Carcinoid Tumor (slow growing), but the surgeon was only able to remove half, and it will continue to grow as there is no medical cure for it. We don't know how long it will be - the doctor said months, maybe years. He's 65, but looks much younger and has always been in good shape. I can't nag him, doesn't do any good. He's getting shots for the constant diarrhea caused by the Carcinoid.

Good luck to you, and thank you for the information.

My husband had his right kidney removed in March and we thought the 6 month check up was going to show the all clear...unfortunately now there are 3 small suspicious spots in his lungs...so small they didn't show on the chest x-ray only on the CT scan. He will be having immunotherapy but we got some of the flor-essence and have both been taking it at least at night if not in the morning also. I think it is helping me to be more regular...I also got him Immunolin and Olive Leaf extract. His brother recommended Calcium with Magnesium but he has to talk to the doctor first about that because he takes a calcium blocker for high blood pressure. What stinks is he felt great until he got this cold and now he's coughing...a couple times he said there was a little blood...kind of hard...it's really scaring him...and his appt. with the chemo doc isn't until the 24th because we have to make a 3 day road trip to get back "home". We are snowbirds so he had his surgery here but we don't want to spend the winter here. If anyone has any thoughts on this coughing PLEASE e-mail me directly...we'll be leaving here in a week.

Hello everyone that posted. I have been drinking the Essiac tea from Canada since I was diagnosed. I have also incorporated bloodroot tincture for the tumor shrinking mixed with the Essiac. I had thirteen radiation treatments and had to stop. I am now fighting with the Essiac, The Coral Calcium/cesium chloride. That is a most important factor when doing the Coral Calcium treatment. The cesium is what attacks the tumors. It is hard to find but the is a place on the web called the Wolfe Center and they are the only ones I found that have it.

I could not get chemo at the time of the radiation due to gum infections so, I think the cancer spread due to the attack from the radiation. I have to admit though...so far what they said would happen has not.

Things are a big mess for me due to insurance....etc. but I firmly believe that the ph factor is a very real factor because it is simple. Not so simple getting there but the concept of healthy environment.

Thank-you,
Stephanie

Lois, I have been taking Essiac tea in capsule form for about three years. I had Stage 3 Ovarian cancer. Have been in remission 3 years this October. I am in perfect health. All my doctor can say is - whatever you are doing, keep doing it. Essiac was recommended to me by several people - I was taking the tea form but find the capsules so much easier - especially when traveling. Have no idea if the Essiac is responsible for my good health - I am taking nothing else but a multi-vitamin and an antioxidant. Have a cousin who has taken it faithfully following bladder cancer and she is doing great also. I didn't see it but I guess there was a special feature on Essiac on one of the television news shows relating the story of a young boy who was terminal and attributed his cure to Essiac. So good luck - I'm sticking with it. It's not that expensive and it just may be making a difference.

Lelia, thanks for the information! Good to know that it is helping. We were very interested in this, until reading that it was not proven...but then the medical profession promoted HRT until recently. Dr John Lee had written about the dangers of HRT several years ago, duh...thanks for your response.

Hello Anthony,
I am doing this on my own. I have been drinking the tea and the radiologist was surprised that the tumors shrunk as fast as they did. Also he said that they would grow again once I stopped radiation and so far that has not happened. There are other benefits from the calcium also. I find the tea to be expensive and am looking into just getting the herbs myself and making it. I have a doctor that I go too and I will start up with an oncologist again in Dec. to see what is going on. I will not stop with the alternatives though.

Leila,
You take Essiac in pill form? Would you tell me where you get it in pill form. I have been doing the tea and it is rather costly. Thank-you very much.

Stephanie, I get Essiac in capsule form from Vitamin Cottage. It is sold under the NOW label and costs $10.75 for 90 capsules. Sold as Esiak Caps. I take first thing in the morning and then again before going to bed. I hated that brewing procedure and to buy already prepared was very expensive. Good luck - I have no proof but I do feel they have been a big factor in my resistance. Lee

Hi:
I have heard great things about Essiac for cancer. As a matter of fact, I believe that Essiac saved my life. About Flor-Essence, I have heard that it is more a preventive tea than a healing tea. The way I look at hear-say cancer remedies is that I really stand to lose nothing by trying them. Best wishes!!

Lelia,
I am currently being treated for ovarian cancer. Have been drinking the Essiac tea for about one year now. I did not realize that it came in capsule form. Would you mind letting me know where you obtain the Essiac in capsule form? Thank you.

Debbie: I buy Esiak Caps from Vitamin Cottage. They are sold under the NOW label - 450 mg, 90 capsules for $10.75. It says on the label that 3 capsules is approx equivalent to 4 oz of the tea formula. I take 2 a day - one in the morning 30 minutes before eating and then at bedtime. I have bought them at other vitamin stores when traveling - I don't think they're hard to find if you live in a metro area. I am in the Denver area. My CA125 scores have been below 5 since chemo and of course I've been on the Essiac all along - would like to think part of the good scores are due to the Essiac but I have no way of knowing. I know exercise is important and I walk 3 miles a day weather permitting. Hope you are doing as well.

I just made the essiac tea for my dad. It isn't that hard to do and is cheaper than pre-bottled. I read that Victoria's (something) was better than Flor-Essence. Also, they recommended not buying the precombined herb packets of Flor-Essense as it loses something in the sitting. Just remember that you have to bottle it HOT with sealing canning lids that "pop" down so you know it's sealed. We just started so I don't have any results. Just wanted to let you know it wasn't that hard to made.
