Cost of Sutent

We were told the overall cost for 30 days for 50 mg was almost
$7000. My mom has medicare which refused to pay based on the
fact that it's a "New" drug, but her supplemental insurance
through AARP paid for roughly half. The worst part is that the pills
can't be cut in half, and often the dosage is too strong. Ask for
25mg pills and if the recommended dosage is 50 take two, rather
than having to get another RX if it has to be adjusted.

Cost of Sutent

I'm in my 7th cycle of Sutent and I'm enrolled in AARP Medicare Complete Plan D. I've been in the catistrophic portion of the plan which means I pay 5% of the cost. It's important that you find a pharmacy with the cheapest OTC cost. I went to Walmart and my cost for 37.5mg of Sutent is $235 for a 28 day supply. I hope this message is helpful, God bless

RE: Cost of Sutent

I have been taking Sutent since May 2006. Up till now I have been paying $25.00. I am a retired Teamster and had great insurance. But the company closed their doors and I was told my insurance was canceled.Even though I had been paying $400.00 a month out of my own pocket.I switched over to my wifes insurance and thought everything was fine. Now her insurance tells me I have to pay 50% or roughly $2500 for my Sutent. I'm trying to get medicare part "d" but they are telling me I have to drop the other insurance.Should I join AARP also? I am really confused. My lungs have started to show an improvement and now this happens. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
