Aromsin

I am also taking Aromsin and have a lot of side effect. I have cut my dosage back to 3 times a week and did not take any last week. I can tell a large difference since I have been off for a week. I actually feel better. When I take it all the time I also feel like I'm 80 years old & I'm 55. I feel crappy and crabby. My bones, joints, feet ache. I have gained 30lbs. and can't seem to get it off any way I try.

Brenda,
Is that the shot to boost your red blood count??? I have had it after every treatment and also have had bone aches and felt waaayyyyy old!!! I thought it was the Neulasta shot causing the aches, but this time I only had the red blood count shot and still feel like crap!!!!
I, too, am in my 50's. I am also experiencing major edema and am puffed up like a sausage in all extremeties--anyone else expereience this???

Aromsin

Th s is the preventive cancer pill that was prescribed after my chemo & radiation treatments. The shots you are taking I also took during my chemo and they do make you feel like crap, but hang in there they do work I never had to have a blood transfusion due to these shots. I finished my chemo & radiation in July of last year.

Aromasin Side Effects

Yeah, I am feeling old these days too (achy feet, joints and numbness and swelling in extremeties, and I have gained 30lbs since I began taking the med, however, I had another major surgery in January that attributed to the weight gain too, as well as my own poor food choices, but I have noticed that aromasin definitely increases my appetite, it makes me ravenous (think I spelled that right ...in other words I am really hungry at times). I have been drinking more water and will begin drinking more green tea too. I read today that teas are better for good health than water, so I am willing to increase my tea intake.
I am fighting strong against the side effects of aromasin by exercising as much as possible, and trying not to think about the pain. Oh yeah, I take motrin and advil when I just need some help coping, but for the most part I have decided to take it head on for the next year since it has an excellent history of stopping the recurrence of breast cancer cells. At this point I do not know what else to do. However, if the pain gets debilitating I am going back to taking tamoxifin for the next year. I only have one more year then I will be at 5 years survival. Hang in There!

Aromasin Side Effects

Did you decide to cut back on your own? Or did you have a Dr. or nurse suggest. I HATE the joint pain--I find it unbearable. I have been on aromasin since the laast weekof July, and the joint pain is getting worse. I had bloodwork done TODAAY for my 6-month check-up Monday the 27th. The nurse told me to stop it totally and see if side effects subside a bit this week. I am glad to hear you noticed it right away! She said there are other things they can put me on. I think the horrible hot flashes of tamoxafin are more bearable the the side effects of aromasin. Anyway, I just hope you are doing what you are doing under a doctor's care

RE: Aromsin

Hi My mother also chose to take aromicin every other day and she says it diminishes the pain. I didn't think she should do this but she is 74 and feels positive. She does complain of pain when she lifts her right arm. Thats the side of the breast where she had the lymph nodes and a lumpectomy removed. Its interesting how many opinions ther are regarding these medications. She is cheduled for a mammography next month, Her Pet scan came back good and was told that there was no indication of any cancer. However the pain has to come from something is it the meds or the 26 weeks of radiation. She did nit have any reactions during the radiation treatments.
