Yes, I had chemotherapy for ovarian cancer through a local hospital's cancer treatment center, (this was between August and November of '02), and also have been taking nutritional supplements per the advice of a holistic Doctor I have been seeing for three years, and a Chinese herbalist who recommended a product to keep the immune system up. My oncologist was very impressed at my response to the chemo, and my white & red counts did not drop into the danger zone.

Arnold thanks for the reply...I have an appointment today with a holistic Dr. who my wife's oncologist recommended if we thought this was something we wanted to try. I've been up in the air on whether this was something we should do...there's so much I want to do but I'm not in the position to play doctor with my wife's condition and needed to know if anyone was having good results with a holistic doctor.
Thanks and I hope things are going well for you,

I am doing homeopathic treatments, as well as traditional medicine...I used mistletoe/astralagus serum injections, sent to me from Germany that are supposed to work on the tumors/immune system...I am also on Interleukin-2/thalomide injections for my renal cell carcinoma...I think they potentiate each other and working with each other...my holistic doctor says mistletoe/astralagus will not interfere with any treatments I am doing...he is also a medical physician.M.D. My oncologist does not have a problem with me using herbal treatments. I have also visited Dana Farber cancer institute in Boston, who are also aware of the herbal treatment, without objection. Hope I have answered your question, it is a little vague...however, if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

Take care and God Bless!

RE: Holistic Dr.?

I am trying to find alternative medicines that will help me with incurable colon cancer that was diagnosed in December. I had breast cancer in 2002, completed the chemo for that. The whole time I was being treated I complained of a sideache, but the doctor only did a ct scan and said it showed nothing. So now I am where I am with this colon cancer. The good news was it is not breast cancer. I have not had any surgery and the doctor said no radiation. However, I am thinking positive and have all the hope in the world and the support of so many family and friends. My question is how do I find a good holistic doctor in my town. I live in St. Louis, Missouri. I have called many of the hospitals and talked with oncology nurses and my doctor and they don't know anyone. Can you help me? And thank you for your concern.
Hi Cindy,
I don't know what to tell you...I'm located in New Jersey. I guess you'll have to rely on your better judgment in selecting a doctor. Have you talked to other patients at your treatment center?? Perhaps they know of some one. Our doctor is not into alternative medicine but he did recommend one that works in the hospital that we could talk to if we wanted to explore that area...Sorry I could not be more helpful.

Cinda G.,
In the book "Beating Cancer With Nutrition" there is a list of Doctors in the back of the book. Some of them are located in St. Louis. They may be able to help. The Book is by Patrick Quillin with Noreen Quillin. Hope this is a lead for you. Take care.

To Arnold D.:
I have been diagnosed with a brain tumor - GBM Phase IV - currently undergoing chemo but having a rough time of it. I am in a clinical trial for a 12 month period and have completed the first 2 cycles. Did okay the first month but not so well this second and will begin the 3rd cycle in another week. I am considering a holistic doctor. I live in Baltimore, MD. Any info. you can provide will be helpful as my physicians aren't pro-holistic medicine. Thank you. Sue

Hi Sue
This is Deb, my father is Arnold, and my Mother is the one who battled cancer for 14 months. Lung, glands above both kidneys, bone, and brain, it then moved into her liver. At the beginning she received IV therapy through the alternative medicine Dr. along with chemo and radiation. I believe the IV treatments helped boost her weaken system. But she failed to "help herself" in diet and exercise. She was 73. Here is a Support group I found searching for GBM you might be interesting in.

If you are connected to the Internet, you may want to join The Brain Tumor E-Mail Discussion Group. This group is comprised of hundreds of patients and caregivers along with a few health professionals. It works in this way -- you would e-mail your medically related question(s) to the entire group. Within minutes, hundreds of people will receive your message. It very common to receive several helpful replies from others. Some replies are sent to the whole group, others are sent directly to you. This discussion group is very active; expect to receive 50+ messages a day. Simply delete messages you are not interested in reading. For many subscribers, it serves as an irreplaceable support group. To join this list -- simply send e-mail to listserv@mitvma.mit.edu, leave the subject blank and simply put 'subscribe braintmr yourfullname' in the body of the message

The Dr. we went to was in Lake Villa, IL.I can call and see if there is someone he recommends in your area. May the Great Physician give you strength and see you through.
Sincerely
Deb

Thank you for the prompt response. I will certainly try the website you mentioned and would greatly appreciate it if you could contact the Dr. in Illinois regarding a possible recommendation in the Baltimore/Washington area. May God Bless you.

This is Dec. 2003. If I ever have 1 Drop of Chemo I will be at my wifes Board Certified Internal Medicine and Naturopathic medicine Dr. for support. He is a one of a kind DR. I am a 6 year caregiver.
Remember my friend that there is western medicine and they work on scientific results and vits. and Minerals are called unauthorized.
Just ask your DR. if he would treat himself or his loved ones the same way he treats you?

Rcc & Pulmonary Cells-gone-crazy

Dear Carol, I wish you had said where in Alaska; big area! If you are able, cesium chloride will raise the cellular pH enuff above neutral(from its now below!) that the cancer cells will take the course of reversion-to-normal, or die! I would also accept an ozone insuflation, as often as every-other-day, enriching, rejuvenating & invigorating the tissues of the lower bowel. Moreover, the availability of a hyperbaric 02 chamber(even a 1-place for repressurization of a too-long-under diver would suffice!) would do wonders for the lung tissues! I would do these things in light of the facts that(as all cancer researchers have known since the early 1950's!!!!)cancer cells cannot live in an oxygen-rich environment, nor in an alkaline environment!
Therefore, it simply has wondrous effects when we deprive the little "parasitic" traitors of their preferences, and inundate then with what they cannot abide! Additionally, I would provide myself with freshly mad carrot-apple-celery juice
while munching on a few raw sunflower seeds, so that all 23 amino acids would be handy for my liver to collate/synergize for the repair of any/everything needful! If you can find enough celery & sunflower seeds, you can exchange pineapple, almonds, & alfalfa sprouts for the apples & carrots, and have the same grouping! If, alas, fresh things are scarce, a source of pre-digested, full-spectrum aminos, w/probiotics,
+ a few well-balanced vitamins/minerals would do.
The most common mistake in judgment of cancer victims is trying a stage 2 or 3 treatment for a stage IV condition. And, sometime it is advantageous to excise a few million/billion/trillion cancer cells so the poor body isn't saddled with the processing of them all! A good amount of pure water, a bit(10-15 min/day) of sunshine, a little exercise, &/or a lymph stimulant(homeopathic) will make a pretty good job of deleting the nasty buggers from the equation of our lives. Nothing from the above list is elective, BTW. Sorry you're not closer, but I hear Alaska is beautiful all year...only state I've not been to. Bon apatite, and may God bless. Did you receive Both conventional treatment, and the Holistic therapy at the same time , or just one of them. I would like to explore, using Only the Holistic therapy.

Many thanks, Donald P.
