Your question sounds like stage IIB, however probably not a candidate for surgery since there is nodal involvement. The overall survival for all stages is 20% at 5 yr and 4% at 5 yr. Surgery can extend average survival to 18-20 months. Without surgery its more like 6-12 months. Historically this is a cancer that has been resistant to chemo, however there have been some recent advances using drugs like Gemzar and Tarceva. Some of these have extended survival by several months. Unfortunately, as OncRx said, only Stage I can be cured by surgery, and 90% of the time when it is diagnosed it is not in Stage I.
