Cost of Nexavar

I have written before when we first heard about Nexavar by Bayer. I was wondering if anyone knows the cost of the drug. It was approved by Health Canada and we are now trying to get it for my husband.

Nexavar

The retail price for 120 pills is around $5,000. If you do not have prescription drug coverage, you can have your Doctor contact the Nexavar support team at REACH. #1-866-639-2827. Depending on your circumstances, they might give you the pills for nothing. In making this determination, they will more than likely require that you send them your latest tax return and other info. Aside from the side effects, the pill loves to kill cancer cells

Thanks For The Info David

I thought that was the price tag but wasn't sure. My husband has been fortunate to get on the Bayer assistance program and will be starting Nexavar tomorrow. We are very excited. Are you using it? I have read the messages with regard to it and the side effects don't sound much different than Intron A which my husband was on but kept getting reactions. So we are very optimistic. I guess the foot and hand sore are different but from reading the other messages we are prepared and are thankful for some of the suggestions we have read. So we will keep an open mind and forge forward.

Thanks for taking the time to write. I have found so much good information on this message board.

Nexavar

Hi! Wishing your Husband good luck with Nexavar. My tumors have decreased in size since taking Nexavar. I have never been able to take a full dose because of side effects in the form of blisters to my feet and cracking skin on my hands.

If Nexavar is sold here in Bangkok, Thailand; we could have the doctor's prescription and the policy wil cover all the expenses. Unfortunately, Nexavar is not yet sold in Bangkok, so I am looking for any possible ways to get it. Could anyone suggest me any assistant program to enroll. Thank you in advance. ToniBangkok Thailand

My mother had a kidney removed last April, it wasn't until September that she found out it has spread to her lungs. The doctors recemended Nexavar, which was not covered by OHIP, we live in Ontario, Canada. My parents had private health insurance with Blue Cross, but they would not pay. It took the doctor months to get it all straightened out, and Blue Cross agreed to pay 80%(about $4,600/month) and Bayer picked up the other 20% with proof of low income. It was the most stressful time waiting for medication. She went from walking to being in a wheelchair because her lungs were full of fluid. Eating was hard because she had to take deep breaths between bites. She has now been on nexavar for three months. Within two weeks she could walk around her apartment again without losing her breath. Her latest CAT scan has shown her lung tumors have decreased by 50% but her kidney tumor has grown slightly (we think it was the months waiting for treatment). She has experienced rashes, dry ichy scalp and fatigue. Her appetite has decreased, nothing looks good to her anymore. It has been nice for her to take a pill at home instead of spending time at the clinic doing chemo. The doctor has told her to take 5 pills a day instead of the 4, has anyone had this experience? If some did it help? I am concerned about the affects of taking 5 pills a day, all information is on taking 4! Please let me know of your experiences with this drug. Thanks

Help

Hello everyone, I am very devastated for all of you who are having cancer or your love one has cancer. I noticed many people have been asking where to get the medication for hepatocellular carcinoma which is Nexavar. Nexavar is to treat cancers that originate in the kidney or the liver. My father was first misdiagnosed with Neuroendocrine Small Cell Lung Cancer. He was diagnosed having cancer in his pancreas, liver and the metastasis to the lungs. To make the long story short, you can purchase the medication from this website. They do International sells but you do require a prescription. http://www.canadian-direct-pharmacy.com/medication/nexavar.a I would like to insist that my father does not get his medications from that online pharmacy, he gets it through the Nexavar company directly and has a prescription through his oncologist. By the way, we live in the states. Good luck, I will keep you posted about my father's status and his reaction to the medication. He is starting taking it today.
