Rituxan Treatment After N>n> Lymphoma

Last year I had Lymphoma and after a pet-scrren last June have been declared as :cancer free:. However, my doctor recommend Rituxin as a prevention treatment.

After the first treatment I got a viral infection and after the 2nd treatment on Jul21 I showed some of the side effect ( rash etc), However, in the last 2 weeks I have developed an axcrutiating back pain and also a bloading in the stomach area. I hav various tests but nothing has shown up(MRI, Bone scane )Right now I am on pain killers and I am fatigued and in pain all the time.

Does anybody have had a similar experience?
My doctor says he has never had any experience like this with his patients.

Thanks for any feeback.

Rituxan

HI Angela. I am currently taking rituxan as a treatment for Waldenstroms Macroglobulinemia, I start again next week for my 4th round, I have to go every 6 months for it, I run a very high fever the night of the my treatment, and sometimes into the next day, but I have noticed since I have been on this, I have had back pains also, and I suffer fatigue, but that goes along with my cancer, other then that I have had no other problems with it, now during the treatment, I have had my BP bottom out 2 times, and they had to give me a sodium steroid to bring it back up. I am thanking God you are cancer free!!!!!!!!!!! What a true blessing that is!!! God bless you sis and I pray that you will have no more side effects from the rituxan, and I am rejoicing with you, that there is no more cancer!!!!!!!!!! Blessings, Pat

Rituxan/angela

Angela,
I have had all the same side effects except the bloating in the stomach. The pain is almost unbearable at times. My Doctor and several other Doctors Ive contacted via the inter-net say it is from the rituxan but have no clue how long it will last. I only wish I would have known before the treatment of this pain as I would have chose not to do it. The Revlimid im on now is causing mini strokes and Ive decided to stop all treatment. There is no cure for my disease and I think it will be better to live a short time with a better quality of life off the toxic meds, then live a longer life not even able to dress myself from the pain/neauropathy/and adema.

Im confused why your Doctor says he's never had any experience like this with his patients. Every person Ive talked to about Rituxan says the same thing PAIN.... if he's an oncologist he should know the side effects.congradulations on a clear MRI
..............

RE: Rituxan Treatment After N>n> Lymphoma

Sorry this is a late reply, but I just joined this chat, and have never done one before. I just finished 8 rounds of CVP+R for Stage IV Follicular Lymphoma, and have had pain after every round. Now, I am one month after my 8th treatment, and I have severe pain, especially in my lower back. I will be starting my Rituxan maintenance shortly, and anticipate the same pain I have had all along. I am sorry for your situation, and I think it is so crazy doctors say they have never heard of pain as a side effefct. My ARNP said Rituxan is known for pain as a side effect. Good luck! On 9/3/2006 Ami69 wrote:Last year I had Lymphoma and after a pet-scrren last June have been declared as :cancer free:. Thanks for any feeback.I completed my last Rituxan treatment for follicular lymphoma in September 2007 and have been declared in remission. I had a full set of chemo in addition to Rituxan treatments (cytoxin, fludorabean). My problem is that I too have been suffering from severe chronic lower back pain ever since my first treatment two years ago and can't seem to get any real relief other than by narcotics (i.e., Loritab). Are any of you still in long term pain? I apologize for tagging in late on this.
