Need Help! Prostate Cancer Spread to Lymph Nodes

My husband has been fighting Prostate Cancer for 8 years following a Radical Retropubic Prostatectomy, radiation, Casodex, Lupron and now Zolodex. Last year cancer had spread to a lymph node next to his left kidney which became atrophied. After a recent cat scan we were just notified the cancer spread to more lymph nodes. His Dr. wants to start chemo treatments and we do not believe in that type of treatment especially since he looks and feels great. He is young with such a passion for life and an unbelievable positive attitude. Any suggestions, ideas, etc? I really need help because quality of life is so important to us and I want him around for a long time. We live in Florida but willing to travel anywhere for good care.

Pamela, did you ever get some good information for your husband? My husband is undergoing tests now to see if his prostate cancer (seed implants 4 years ago) has spread to lymph nodes in his groin. We have not had luck in getting specific answers from our physicians yet, but plan on next going to Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Mary

Mary,

I would recommend that you check out the "Net" and especially the American Cancer Society Prostate Resource Center.

There you will find all kinds of info....

And if that does not satisfy, check out the Johns Hopkins Institute of Medicine. I recommend them as they have been rated the number one facility in America when it comes to Cancer for the last several years by U.S. News and World Report.

Also, the folks at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America seem to be good and they have been very helpful to me even though I did not contact them until AFTER I had already received treatment.

Take care and I wish you and your husband the best. Don't waste time...research, research....and then go with what you consider the best.

Ken
