Continuing the HOPE..

I am a 21 year old, who was diagnosed with stage III ovarian cancer 2 years ago...Recently my fight has become increasingly difficult as I am having a problem digesting food. In the past 3 months I have lost 8-10 lbs leaving me at 95lbs. I was on a trial drug in Connecticut called Phenoxidial, and completed 10 cycles before having to quit the study because my body was so weak...Some days are harder than others, and I believe that my miracle is on it's way. I could use any suggestions that people have for easily digested foods and how to gain weight quickly but safely. I wish the best for all cancer patients and caretakers, write me with any suggestions

Hi Becky,
I don't know a lot about ovarian cancer or what kind of treatments you received, but I have had problems with digesting food. I have metastatic colon cancer, and I had a colon resection in Nov 2000. When a part of the colon is removed, things change as far as what a person can eat. I found that small frequent meals helped me. When I was sick from chemo I often drank the shake type drinks like "Boost" or "Ensure". I also try to avoid fried or fatty foods, or spicy ones. Maybe your doctor could refer you to a nutritionist. Good luck to you and continue the hope.
