Heated Limb Perfusion for Melanoma

Hi! My name is Lynn. I just had a Heated Limb Perfusion for Melanoma on my left leg, and I would like to hear from anyone who has had or knows anything about this procedure. My leg is now very swollen and red, but I guess this is normal after this type of surgery. Please respond if you have any information. Thank you!

Limb Perfusion

My father is currently in the hospital in Pennsylvania and has had limb perfusion on his right leg. How long was your recovery and what can we expect? Hope you are doing well.

Heated Limb Perfusion

Hi, Liz! Sorry that it has taken me so very long to respond. I hadn't checked for responses in about six months! How is your father doing? I would really like to hear about his recovery. I am doing fine, and my melanoma has not returned! I was able to go back to work a little over two months after my surgery, but I think I went back a little too soon. At this time, most of my leg continues to be numb, and at times, I feel clumsy (I don't seem to have the control of my leg like I used to), but I feel very blessed that I was able to have this surgery. About three months after the surgery, I got into a peptide vaccine clinical trial. I am hopeful that it has boosted my immune system so that it won't ever come back. Time will tell, but for now, I am enjoying every minute! I hope you get this--please let me know how he is doing. Lynn
