Stem Cell Transplants and Renal Cell Cancer

My husband is 32 years old and was diagnosed this year with renal cell cancer. He had his right kidney and a very large tumor removed. Everything looked hopeful and he was put on Sutent but after 3mths the cancer has spread to his chest and lung. We have been told about doing a Stem Cell Transplant. Does anyone have any information on this. I've been told that a Dr. Richard Childs in Maryland is performing this. I have talked to a Dr. Jonasch at M.D. Anderson in Houston, but he does not do Stemcell Transplants. He is into Immunotherapy Treatment like IL2. Has anyone heard about Stem Cell Transplants helping with Renal Cell Cancer. Thanks!!
