Shortness of Breath from Chemo?

I had 6 treatments of carboplatin & paclitaxel for ovarian cancer stage 3C; last treatment was completed in November '02. I was assured by my Dr. a few months later that the chemo should have left my system, but was experiencing shortness of breath, and had a severe attack in March '03 that led to the ER. I had some EDTA chelation treatments with an alternative Dr., then a urine test which revealed an extremely high level of platinum excreted in the urine in April '03, 5 months after the last chemo treatment. I still am experiencing shortness of breath after brief exertion. Heart tests revealed no major problems. Anyone out there with a similar situation? Thanks, Andrea

RE: Shortness of Breath from Chemo?

I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer in May 01. Completed chemo in late Sep. It wasn't until Sep the following year before I felt normal again. While I did not experience shortness of breath, I did experience fatigue. I didn't have much energy during the day, and it gets worse in the evening. Then I took up qigong in Sep 02. Within a week my fatigue was gone. My husband, who took it up with me, said his eyestrain was gone, so were his headaches. We started by learning it from a book, then we took up a course. In the end we ordered the tapes from the States. We practice it daily for about 30 mins. Eventually I tried other things: deep breathing, self-massage, walking 45 mins on the treadmill 5 times a week, eating mostly vegetables and fruits, lots of garlic and onions, cutting out white flour, most dairy products, switching to olive oil, try to include some flax seeds in my diet, paying more attention to "anti-cancer" food. My latest CA125 came back at 6. I like to think I could help my body to heal itself. Take care, Jo
