We found out two days before i gave birth to our third son that my husband has EC. I have read many stories of EC patients and about 90% are bad, but I must say, you need to remain positive and strong. Find support in your loved ones.Find strength were you would have never looked before, there is hope, I promise you all, there is HOPE!!! After seeing a DR. at Sloan Kettering in NYC and having our lives and dreams shattered,by hearing the Dr. say "go home to spend the rest of your time with your kids" we turned to a rather local practice on long island.We were set up with a rather young, but cocky Dr. who wasnt afraid to tell it how it was. Yeah the prognosis was bad, but he said we still have options. From there my husband started 9weeks of chemo,then 28 days of radiation and chemo, all to prepare for surgery.Now surgery at first was not an option due to the size of the tumor(2 in x 2 inches)but if the tumor shrunk enough the Dr. could convince the surgeon to do the surgery.Well it did, the next Pet scan showed 90% of the cancer was gone.No cancer in the liver or adrenal and the primary in the esophogus shrunk so significantly.He was hit so hard with chemo due to his young age, twice the doses were given. Even with the terrible side effects my husband never said "no more" he never gave in or gave up one little bit. He found his stregnth in me and my kids. There was times where he was ssssssooooo sick that he wanted to give in ,but that would have meant giving in to the enemy.I always stay positive, even when I think the worst. Just found out yesterday that my wife has a tumor on her spine. I don't know what EC cancer is. We have both had problems and have used alternative methods extensively. If I were you I would search the internet for this. You will find lot's of info (some of it garbage and some extremely good), you will be able to tell the difference after you have searched enough. The first thing that I would do is try to locate a good "Intergrative" MD, one that will use both conventional and alternative methods. Most of these can be used with chemo. Read the testamonials on "www.thebeckwithfamily.com" about Flaxseed Oil and Cottage Cheese. Also, check out Essiac Tea in your searches. Both are known to be effective in eliminating cancer. I also have cancer; I am doing a therapy based on "the new medicine" of Dr. Hamer. This is related to emotional stress , mind, body . No chemo, no radiation, no surgery. Some better than the coventional treatments. Keep God first throughout your battle. You can win this thing no matter what you may see or hear. Only believe. On 7/10/06 he was in for surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester NY. He had both the espophagectomy and the thoracotomy done. The surgeon feels confident he got it all. But because he found a that a portion of lymphnodes that were sampled for the cancer proved positive he is following it up with Chemo. Right now he is receiving his 2nd cycle of the chemo treatments. 2 more to go. Through it all he has taken the same stance that your husband has and is doing well overall. Our 1st 3mos check up with the surgeon is in November and we are anxious to here his report. My best to you and your husband. Conventional chemo may be affected by some alternative methods, ie: high dose anti-oxidants, so be sure to check with a naturopath or someone who is well studied before self medicating. On the other hand, you can't have too many people praying for you and even the laying on of hands or imagery, can be effective in eliminating tumors. My oncologist thinks I practice witchcraft but is very happy that I am in remission.
