Stopping alternative therapies prior to a surgical biopsy?

Does anyone know if Ellagic Acid needs to be stopped for a period of time prior to a surgical biopsy? The concern is to get off supplements which cause excessive bleeding.

I know I must stop flax oil and evening primrose oil.

If anyone has any information on ellagic acid, I would be grateful.

Thank you,
Ann

Be very wary about what you are told. In other words, get a second, or even third, opinion.

My girlfriend was told to avoid several substances because they had blood thinning effects. Often, and in her case, the oncologists neglect to tell you that this is because the chemo is killing off your good cells too, including the clotting platelets (it is certainly never mentioned in the patronizing book they hand out: Look how good chemo is at selecting its target, complete with little pictures)

If I am correct in thinking that you are using flaxseed oil to increase your Omega 3s, then know that Evening Primrose oil is high in O6. I am telling you this because studies indicate that cancer cells can proliferate using Omega 6 fatty acids, whereas they hit a no-go with Omega 3s. I am not saying that you must eliminate Omega 6 -it is an essential fatty acid- but giving yourself more of it does not make sense to me. I would speak to an alterative practitioner to learn the effects.

In truth, I really have no idea why they asked you to stop flaxseed oil; the most frequent I hear are Vit E and St. John's Wort, although I think it fiendish to prevent someone taking Vit E, which has tremendous properties. Abstaining from flaxseed oil was not mentioned to my girlfriend, and I have never heard it mentioned anywhere else. Was it the case that your oncologist/radiologist asked you what you were taking and then said, "Well, I think you should stop those..." not really knowing what they do?

Consider taking some Vit K when you are undergoing treatment (of course, consult with a practitioner) because this has blood thickening qualities.

Best wishes

RE: RE: Stopping alternative therapies prior to a surgical biopsy?

Hello to you!

We, my partner (Laryngeal cancer) and I hope you are doing well! We are surviving the finish
of his 3rd week of radiation so far; we have MANY Angels under whose wings we are
SURVIVING till the final slaying of this alien in our midst .... we indeed share them with you ---
AND ALL OF YOU, TOO! --- and thank all of you who have responded/communicated with us!

Over the years, since 1995, when I was not expected to live due to AIDS, I have recovered my
own health through major volunteer work within the medical (Western) community and have
met and learned so much more about the healthy living environment needed for our bodies,
pets, plants, water and so much more --- KEEPING AN ACTIVE, ALKALINE PH BALANCE.
Disease of ANY kind thrives in an ACIDIC environment; WE need the balance of 7.2 to 7.4, on
the more alkaline side. HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE, with well-filtered water that has
been naturally re-infused nutrients ... NOT distilled water.

We have been blessed with much of this education after I attended an HIV/AIDS symposium
about 5 years ago, where my Life's Path crossed the existence of this company and what it's
ever-evolving products have to offer. WATER is the ever-most important thing to remember; I
can guide you to links for you to evaluate just what the EPA has to report on your local water
supply, if you like. BY KNOW MEANS is this an advertisement; it is not.

One of the most rewarding, but still almost disconcerting, things is, is that our primary Doc and
Dennis' Oncology Doc told me that they both know of my, as they said, "secret little drawer full
of majic buttons" that they don't have access to and that they neede my help in moving things
forward, which I successfully did by 2 months more than they could arrange. ;-) I was also
allow into the post-op recovery room, which is rarely allowed, after his pan-endoscopy....
Guess I still have a smile even when I have to be a bitch.... xoxoxo

Please write directly to us if you like....

Take care,
Billy

Billy, Glad to hear things are going well. It really helps to hear from others.

Friday I have another biopsy to determine the extent of the cancer. I have invasive lobular and non-invasive in-situ breast cancer.I also may have inflammatory cancer, also

Presently, I am on anumber of alternative therapies including IP6, MRS, Essiac , ellagic Acid and a number of vitamins.

I stopped the flax oil, as I have been told that is a bleeder. I still do not know about ellagic acid?

I am drinking plenty of water in addition to beet juice, lemon juice( whole lemon is juiced) and watermellon juice.

Please let me know how you are progressing.
Ann
