Can Turmeric help prevent and posssibly cure cancer?

I have been reading a lot lately that Turmeric could help prevent and possibly even cure cancer. Turmeric contains an ingredient called curcumin that researchers say may help suppress and destroy the blood cancer multiple myeloma. A study done in Japan found that curcumin prevented cancer and stopped tumors from growing.

I have found Turmeric tablets in my local health food shop. The dosage is two 400mg tablets a day, however in cancer patients I have read on the Internet that you need to take a much higher daily amount.

Has anyone taken Turmeric to stop a tumor growth? And has it had any effect?

Tumeric

I am on my second bottle of Tumeric. My friend starting showing articles about it. I don't find it real easy to find. Are you still taking it? What results have you had? Have you found a good source for this product? Carol

Turmeric

I have been taking turmeric and my doctor was shocked by how
well I responded to chemo. I also take quercetin and bromelain
plus some other things. You can always order supplements on
line.

Re/curcumin

Hi, my name is Peggy and was diagnosed 8/23 with Follicular Lymphoma. In my search for any thing I can do to help myself I also found some info on Curcumin. The way I understand it Curcumin should be taken with Bioperine for the curcumin to be absorbed in humans. The formula suggested is 2500 curcumin with breakfast, and 2000 with supper, each dose taken with 10mg. of the Bioperine for absorption. There are several links for more info, curcuminoids.com/absorption.htm
www,turmeric-curcumin.com/curcumin.htm
on this link scroll down near the bottom of the pageto see several universities reporting on the connection between cancer and curcumin, notably the prestigious University or Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Also there is a private web page,www.lymphomasurvival.com that has a wealth of info on cancer nutrition and supplements. Hope this is of some help. Peggy

RE: Re/curcumin

I was also diagnosed with lymphoma (follicular) 3 years ago, although I had a lump in my neck for a year prior to diagnosis, so actually it's been four years living with lymphoma. I recently had noticed an enlarged lymph node in the inguinal area, and my CT scan and PET scan show "some progression of the disease". Recently I started cooking with turmeric and like magic the enlarged lymph node has shrunk considerably. It looks like there's a benefit to ingesting turmeric. I'm not fond of Indian food, but will develop a liking for it if it means I can outwit lymphoma. Peggy

I have soft tissue melanoma (stage 3) for 5 years and have used turmeric on and off. I just wanted to let you know that I buy empty capsules and a capsule filler device (around $12) and turmeric in bulk to fill my own capsules - to suggest an alternative to just using it in cooking. Actually, I have little idea of how many of these capsules to take each day, so if any one does, let me know.

Curcumin and f/NHL Highlander,My wife age 36 diagnosed in 5/07 w/ fNHL, from advise and over 50 books read front to back suggest tumeric (that contains curcumin) she and I take 900 mg tablets @ every meal and eat ALOT of greens (i.e. kale, collard mustard, etc.) prepared with olive oil and 1-1/12 tbs of tumeric/curcumin almost daily. Along with only WHOLE FOODS nothing processed. This has lead to shrinkage of all tumor sites.Good luck
