Supplements

As I read the posts tonight, I see several about supplements...especially particular brands. My husband was on Avastin, an angiogenesis, now on Erbitux, a monoclonal antibody therapy. Our oncologist at U of Colorado asked us to use supplements "prudently" as the antioxidents contained in pills...and foods...can have a negative effect on Avastin and possibly work against it. The information on how it works as shown on the drug company CD leads me to believe there is a reason for his warning.

As much as I would like to hear of magic pills, it is my instinct that we should all consult our doctors before we simply start taking someone's $100 magic pills, liquids or powders.

I know all cancers are different and vary from individual to individual, as do our reactions to the "cures". I am sure that there are people who get wonderful results, in fact, I have a good friend who brought his CEA down and blood up with Raspberry Gold...but too much of a good thing, especially when people are making big bucks from selling worry me. More over, which one do we choose? I know people selling at least six different brands.

Any independent research will be appreciated.

I did not mean to imply that FOOD was bad. What he was warning us against was radical diets. He wants us to us a balanced diet.

Have you done much research on VEGF drugs?

Nikki Hello: I have been trying to find information on Avastin. I am taking it for ovarian cancer and want to stop. I have been taking some natural suppliments. No one knows what will conflict with avastin. My doctors don't know what will conflict. Why is your husband taking Avastin?ThanksVicki

I have lost love ones from cancer so I am into the prevention mode. We have other diseases that run in our family so we are all about the prevention part. Although I have heard such good things about the Reliv products in which people that have cancer and other conditions do so much better because of the bioavailability of the products it gives the body nutrition to fight back and stay healthy through all the treatments, etc. I am very impressed with the fact that they also have a foundation that gives to the poor and impoverished all over the world including the U.S. That tells me that they are not all about the mighty dollars that they actually have a heart for trying to nourish people and their health.De

RE: Supplements

i understand your reluctance to include a supplement in your diet when you have a medical doctor telling you "no". The problem with that is that 95% of medical doctors have NO training (or one class back in residency) when it comes to nutrition, herbs, and/or supplements. People always fear what they do not know or understand, and so the large tendency with M.D.s is to just advise against any nontraditional medical practice, even if it has no negative side effect, just because THEY DON"T UNDERSTAND IT. Dr. Mark Crapo, one of the men who designs our natural product line, was merely a doctor, until he developed Crohn's disease, and the medical community gave him 2 months to live. He wound up getting his doctorate in Chinese medicine and acupuncture, and now he is not only healthy--he is an Akido master! One of the products we sell has seen tremendous results for a lot of people undergoing cancer treatment. Our Genesis juice contains all of the "good stuff" from an entire pomegranate in one single ounce serving (those undergoing chemo generally drink a great deal more than the average Genesis user), plus a great deal of other positive benefits. Check out this website to see the science and testimonials, and to contact me:www.symmetrydirect.com/ASCHNEPP I know there are a lot of false cures out there. This is not one of them. This is a great product that has a 100% money back guarantee, that just might help you improve your quality of life. I continue to pray for all of you. All best,Ashley
