I take Sutent also. It seems to be working. I just started my 6th round. My is 3 weeks on 2 weeks off. After 2 body scans, nothing new, in my body. I did have a few tiny tumors treated with the Gamma six weeks ago. I feel very comfortable taking Sutent with Gamma. I'm going on 3 years in december. It's been quite amazing what can be done. What is Sterotastic treatment? Washington Stacey Wed, 15 Nov 2006 00:00:00 GMT stero-radio treatment was another opition our dr. gave us, its something like gamma knife but the head frame is different. our oncologist said he doesn't want to start my husband on sutent cuz he doesn't want him to go thru the side affects. "say what" i just don't understand he meaning.q........anyone with rcc w/brain mets shouldn't they be on some kind of treatment,like sutent?????nebraska Nebraska Sat, 18 Nov 2006 00:00:00 GMT Lou/Nebraska, I don't know why you wouldn't be able to take sutent w/treatment. That is a good question. I am taking it,even during gamma knife treatments. It's not horrible, I've never been physically sick from it. Mostly just mouth sores at first, then about the 3 round the blistering on my fingers and feet, but they are tolerable. I just trim off skin as it need. The blisters are quite drying and so are my hands. Some gastrional stuff going on, but never sick or anything like everyone says Chemotherapy does. have a great thanksgiving. I will look that up. washington Stacey Tue, 21 Nov 2006 00:00:00 GMT hi stacey, just got back form a dr.s appt. it went very well.i had told our dr. that the radiation oncologist wants to start my husband on gamma-knife in 6 weeks, cuz he wants the wbr time to work since he's only been out of the treatment for 7 weeks. but yet the day before we talked to the neuorologist and she seems to think it was a go as soon as possible. so now i have to wait til next week for a answer from both this dr.s to see when my husband can start the gamma-knife treatments.my dr. ask me if my husband was taking some kind of med after his wbr treatment. i said 'no' why should he be on something? he said yes. he told me the name of a med but i can remember. q........what are some of the med's your suppose to take after wbr????? my husband is losing 2lbs.a day since 11/9 to 11/21 he has lost 231/2 lbs.thanks nebraska Nebraska Wed, 22 Nov 2006 00:00:00 GMT Hey Nebraska, What is Wbr? I didn't take anything at all except I tried the nexavar and it was to strong so they put me on Sutent. And the Gamma Knive is a one time, head gear, 4 screws in your skull, radiation, have you seen it? It's not bad at all, and I know they have excellent results from it. They said it wasn't for me that I needed to have the larger tumor taken out and then the gamma knife. According to my neurologist at USC, the Gamma has completely wiped out the smaller tumors that were treated. I've had it done like I said earlier, 5 different times over the past 2 1/2 years, with complete result. So very good, like 100% good. My problem, little new Tumors pop up and need treated. Or possibly they were there and so tiny that they were not detected for that amount of time between treatments, but I honestly don't know. The gamma knife unit at USC is very well known. They have, now this is what they told me, one of two machines in the USA that is of the precision that it is.Also the Dr. in charge there travels all over the world talking about it and it's sucess. He's written some books too. Look him up on the internet. His name is Michael Apuzzo. So again to answer your question with my experience, 100% total treatment on the tumors treated.
