Prostate Cancer

I am 69 years old, recent blood test indicated a PSA of 17.5. I assume that indicates a strong probability of cancer. Since this reading about 3 weeks ago, I started an intense program of juice fasting, hydrotherapy, herbal therapy, exercise, hot and cold fomentation and partial vegetarian diet. Just yesterday I did another test to see if I was making headway, my PSA reading was 16.5. I am determined to follow a naturopathic approach to this cancer rather than the traditional invasive treatments that have all these bizarre side effects. Is there anyone out there who has tried this approach and had success? I would appreciate ant news or advice. Jay

No, I have not. I am 67 and in my 30 of 40 IMRT radiation treatments.
The Oncologist, at my request, will look into Zyclamend herbal
which is being tested by out east. Baltimore?
This would be in addition to the treatments.

Prostate Cancer

I would suggest, for a total natural approach, to try the protocol as suggested by Larry Pope at Nutrition2000 (www.nutrition2000.com)and you can also talk with a consultant at 877-393-4468. I have had some success with this, along with dietary changes, although not finished with it.
You will find this a good source of info.

Although I have not tried it, there is also another treatment called Ukrain (named after the former Soviet republic, without the 'e'). I understand this has to be administered interveineously. A naturopathic physician in your area may know about this, one who is willing to treat cancer. Good Luck.

Prostate Cancer Terminal Sept. 1998

Sept 1998 I had prostate cancer that went into my lower spine, left 5-6-7th ribs, and my left lumbar and my doctors told me with radiation they could give me at least one year, but I turn down the radiation and the drugs that would go with the radiation and I went to the Bahamas for alternative treatment where they use my own immune system. My last Bone Scan & MRI I only have a little bit of cancer left in the upper right hand side of my prostate and it has been six yeras and I feel great no more pain that I had back in Sept 1998. You can check out my treatment by going to their web site as follows: www.immunemedicine.com I do take my vitamins and supplements and I also take chelation for my heart which also takes out the heavy metals in my body.

As I mentioned my PSA came down significantly as low as .4, after taking Prostasol for the last seven month from a average of 15/16 PSA. for the last two years when a had biopsy GS 3+3 or 3+4.
Does it also means my cancer size is also reduced. Please advise as I am confused as the PSA numbers relation to cancer size.

Homeopathetic Prostate Cancer Treatement

Hi Joaquin,

Suggest you take a more agressive approach and trust to the medical establishment after doing some quick research.

YOU DO NOT WANT THIS STUFF TO GET INTO YOUR BONES!!

I'd suggest a combination of temporary lupron therapy and radiation or surgery. You're too young to take a chance. Has anyone even done a biopsy to be sure you HAVE cancer?

Don't play games with this. Try diet and exercise along with medical treatment. Tea may have a positive effect.

Good luck but don't screw around.

Goobeard posted a message saying he had great success with
herbal treatments and Raj S. asked what they were. I would also
like to know the details of the herbal treatments that worked
for him. In addition I would like to know if anyone else on this
message board using Prostasol has seen the write-up on Kurt
Donsbach's background and history which appears on the
write-up by Steven Barrett, M.D on his website Quackwatch.org
and if anyone knows how much credibility to give Dr. Barrett.
His "Notes on Kurt Donsbach" is detailed and quite worrisome
to anyone who is considering using the Prostasol product
which I gather is produced only by Donsbach.

Prostasol

What Lot # did not work for you? Lot 3046 worked very well. With that lot, using 4 capsules twice a day my PSA went down from 28.96 to 10.46 in 30 days and then down to 0.73 in the next 30 days. But I did not have any more than 4 bottles of Lot#3046 so now I started using bottles from Lot # 3307. I am told by other people that this lot is good and that it is working well. I sent an enquiry to MedPro a Netherlands producer of the European version of Prostasol asking them about the difference between their formulation and the one produced in California by Dr. Kurt Donsbach. They forwarded my enquiry to Dr. Ben Pfeiffer, the M.D., Ph.D phytotherapy specialist in Switzerland who is now a co-developer of Prostasol with Dr. Donsbach. He sent back the following response to me which I also posted on the Yahoo Natural Prostate Treatments listserve --the URL is :

Dear Sir

Your question regarding composition of the US- and European version of Prostasol was forwarded to me for answering. As far as I know,
there was some problem with the last batch of Dr. Donsbach's prostasol. I have talked to Dr. Donsbach about this, since quite a few men from
the USA have contacted medpro Holland B.V. with the same question. Dr. Donsbach has acknowledged the problem with the last batch of
Prostasol and offered a refund to any patient who has not seen effect.

As to the difference in composition, this is actually a minor one. The European version has the same basic mix as the US version, only certain amounts of resveratrol, maitake D-Fraction and wormwood is added.

I hope this information is helpful to you.
With kind regards,
Ben L. Pfeifer, M.D.,Ph.D.

Prostate Cancer

At age 68 in 2001, my PSA was 12.7 and my doctor at the VA insisted that I see a Urologist right away. Since I had a prior history of prostate infections, (prostatitis) I immediately went on Bactrim for two weeks and my PSA went down to 9.3. I knew this was entirely too high and obviously it wasn't an infection like before so I went to a Urologist in Baltimore. He did a biopsy and it came back positive for cancer. After doing tons of research and consulting with several Urologists, I decided to get my treatment at RCOG in Atlanta, GA. At RCOG, "Radiotherpy Clinics of Georgia", they first give you the radioactive seed implants followed by 6-7 weeks of external radiation (IMRT).
My advice to you Jay would be to see a Urologist right away and if you do have PC, don't take the advice of just any one person/doctor, etc. Do your own research and make your own decision about which treament you want because you will have to live with that decision and it might be the only one you get to make. But don't put it off!
You can get pleny of information from RCOG at:
www.rcog.com They'll send you "free" all the information on the various treatments available, including theirs and others. Bob W.

Prostate Cancer

I was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, PSA 11.4 and a gleason of 4+5=9. A bone scan and MRI came back negative. After my second consultation with my physician I can not agree with the treatment options being offered, radiation, hormone treatment and removal of my prostate. At 45 this is a very difficult decision. Having never been one to firmly believe everything my physician tells me, they used to bleed people, physicians are in the 'business' of treating not curing disease, what would they do? I believe there are alternative treatments. A friend of mine was diaagnosed nearly ten years ago with prostate cancer and has successfully treated his disease with prostasol keeping his PSA down. This has not been an easy three weeks but I am positive and have began taking prostasol along with diet and lifestyle changes. I am curious to others experiences pro and con to alternative treatements and look forward to them with much anticipation and appreciation.

Dealing With Prostate Cancer W/o Surgery

Jay:

I have stabilized my elevated PSA scores for 7.5 years with similar regmines. Recently I read a new book which was a lot of help. It is "Surviving Prostate Cancer Without Surgery".

Also, I have an appointment soon with Dr. Ronald Wheeler at The Prostatitis and Prostate Cancer Center in Sarasota, Florida. Dr. Wheeler's approach to our problem appears to be quite different than that of the Urology mills.

A Google search will find several web sites regarding Dr. Wheeler and his ideas. It might be worth looking into by any prostate cancer patient PRIOR to suffering the usual radical treatments.

Wishing us both well,

RE: Prostate Cancer

Hi, I read your post. replying off-list. While your immediate action and proposed treatment may be commendable, don't put any faith in your current PSA readings. If you go to terry herbert's site www.yananow.net you will see the results of daily tests over a month with considerable PSA fluctuations. PSA variations can also be caused by sex, vigorous exercise, bicycle riding, coffee, alcohol, spicy foods and dozens of other factors. You may need to do a lot more research on PSA testing, but at the least you need to obtained freePSA and calculate %freePSA as well as complexed PSA every time you are having a PSA test. You also need to ensure you avoided all the above, fasted for 10 hours prior, had the tests at exactly the same time and used exactly the same lab. That's just the PSA. Then there are a lot of other factors to consider. If you are attacking this from a natural viewpoint you will need to add LIngZhi/Reichi/Ganoderma Lucidum and high quality fishoil capsules to your diet as well as incorporating the known foods/drinks that help and avoiding the others. Especially take broccoli, tomatoes cooked preferably daily and green tea. There is so much more to cover, but this is a start. You need to start doing serious research. It will probably take you 6-12 months to get a handle on this. Fortunately you appear to have time on your side. best wishes, feel free to contact me direct.
On 10/28/2003 JOAQUIN M. wrote:I am 69 years old, recent blood test indicated a PSA of 17.5. I assume

partial vegetarian diet. Just yesterday I did another test to see if I
was making headway, my PSA reading was 16.5. I am determined to follow
a naturopathic approach to this cancer rather than the traditional
invasive treatments that have all these bizarre side effects. Is there
anyone out there who has tried this approach and had success? I would
appreciate ant news or advice. Jay Jay,Consider
your PSA a blessing. Some of us have extremely aggressive cells that
don't leak PSA, and so our cancers were not detected until the total
situation was far beyond the optimal intercession point. You have the
advantage of catching your problem at a stage that possibly permits a
total cure. (My own PSA was 1.5 at the point where I was diagnosed with
Gleason score 9 aggressive cancer which had already metastasized to the
bone.)I wouldn't recommend that you use nutrition as your sole
approach to curing the disease. My wife is a urological nurse, and has
seen a number of patients who tried that, coming in for conventional
treatment only when the disease had progressed beyond the point where
they could be helped. Use nutrition as an adjunct treatment, and you'll
appreciably increase your chances of a successful outcome, but the time
when nutrition alone would have warded off your cancer was about twenty
years ago, before it got the present foothold.First, find the
practitioner in your area who has the greatest experience with prostate
cancer. Someone in a university setting would probably be your best
choice if you have that available. You need a biopsy to determine
absolutely what's happening inside your prostate.Next, evaluate
the results of your tests carefully and objectively. If the cancer is
still contained within the prostate, your chances of a complete cure
are very good. If not, you still have the option of refusing further
treatment, should that seem the sensible choice. That evaluation
stage should include second and third opinions by a reputable
urologist, urological surgeon, and medical oncologist. Understand that
they will each feel most favorably about what they do themselves, and
that's not an indictment of their motivations but rather something you
should expect. They each have knowledge limited to their own specialty. My
own nutritionist can be accessed at marcjosephnutrition.com. I've used
him ever since diagnosis, and am completely satisfied with the advice
I've received. As convinced as he is of the value of nutrition in this
situation, he'd be the last to suggest that you proceed using nurtition

Just yesterday I did another test to see if I was making headway, my PSA reading was 16.5. I am determined to follow a naturopathic approach to this cancer rather than the traditional invasive treatments that have all these bizarre side effects. Is there anyone out there who has tried this approach and had success? I would appreciate ant news or advice. Jay Hello Jay,So very pleased to see that you are taking charge of your own health and taking the holistic therapy approach to handling your prostate problem. Statistically speaking, conventional medicine therapy would keep you alive for a few extra months but at what cost. You'd be full of chemo, rads, hormones and poisonous drugs and with your immune system shot to pieces. And even those statistics are questionable because of the way the hospitals and the medical profession report cancer deaths. For instance, because conventional treatments destroy your body's ability to combat major illnesses it is more likely that you'd die from one such illness, rather than the cancer itself. But the death is nevertheless reported as a cancer treatment success, thereby skewing the facts.Jay, I will be 69 next month, have a grade 9 very aggressive pc, with a PSA of 13. I have had frank haematuria for three years, a cancerous kidney removed, my gall bladder removed, most of my thyroid removed and just recently, I've been diagnosed with heart issues. And in spite of all that nonsense, I am feeling on top of the world. Truly I am.I put that essentially down to the fantastic, totally committed, support from my darling wife of 48 years and that together, it is we who are making all the decisions regarding my diet and alternative therapies - not some specialist who sees me with dollar signs in his eyes. I still keep in touch with my doctor and 6 monthly, with my urologist , but will not subject myself to any more exploratory procedures and such. Mind you, I also have a very good naturopath/homepath who keeps a close eye on me and from whom I get sound advice. The main factor here is that I am not on the expensive and fruitless, medical conveyor belt so cleverly engineered by the cancer industry. I am doing things my way and 14 months down the track I don't have one regret. What is more I have no fears for the future. I am confident in my own success.Sorry if I'm waffling on a bit here Jay. Perhaps it would be better for you to take a browse through my web blog where I highlight not only my own health issues but I also try to present useful information and reference material.I wish you well with your future health http://www.prostateruminate.com

RE: Prostate Cancer

I was just diagnosed with prostate cancer. I am 71. I have had a PSA reading from 5.5 to over 13 for the past 7 1/2 years. I have been taking all the pills that are supposed to help prevent prostate cancer, they didn't work.None of the digital exams including the one just before the latest biopsy indicated a tumor.I had a biopsy a couple months ago and cancer was found in 5 out of 12 samples. If it was me, I would immediately ask my doctor to do a biopsy. Your PSA is really high. I would have little faith in a nutritional cure for cancer. There is a new method called HIFU that has been used in Europe for 10 years for prostate cancer. It was approved in Canada about a year ago. It is being and has been tested in the US but is not approved at this time. I am considering this method of treatment.Prostate cancer is the 2nd biggest killer of men. It isn't the prostate cancer, it's if it gets past the prostate into the bone (quite often happens), into the bladder or the bowel. That's when you really have problems.I'm surprised your doctor didn't suggest a biopsy and frankly, I think you are foolish not to demand a biopsy. The fact that your PSA was down a point means nothing. I was able to manipulate my PSA reading a couple of points by quiting alcohol, caffeine, spicy food, and chocolate for a day or so before the blood test. If you have ejaculated within 48 hours of the PSA, that will drive your PSA up some as well.Good luck!

At 45 you are really risking your life by not having it treated. Especially at age 45. It grows fast in a younger man. Prostasol has esrogen it it, a female hormone. It will bring your PSA down and possibly slow the cancer but will NOT cure it. Your breasts will get a little bigger and will probably be alittle irritated. Go to Google and check "HIFU" on the internet. Your sex life should not be affected, risk of incontinance near 0 and it's an outpatient proceedure. That's what I'm going to do, I'm 71.Just a suggestion.

Your change in PSA score is most certainly just a variation from your lab reader. With your numbers you likely need both a digital exam and a biopsy. Your numbers are real, even if plus or minus 5 you still may have an aggressive condition. Get to a urologist, stop dreaming, if you have cancer alternative mumbo-jumbo isn't going to rid you of it. You are already too late for preventative measures.
